Oh behalf of all of us at the Highland High School Alumni Association, we want to thank everyone that came out to the Highland Sports Hall of Fame induction ceremony yesterday. We had one of our biggest turnouts to date and it was nice to see so many familiar faces. We want to thank the HOF committee for putting another wonderful event and congratulate all the new inductees to the Hall at the Hive. Hola Hornets!

Congrats to the 2026 Hall of Fame inductees!

Once again the HHS Dinner Club August meet up will be on Wednesday, Aug 19th at 6:00pm at Franks Famous Chicken & Waffles (400 Washington Street SE). You have seen the announcements for the amazing Frank Ruvolo’s lunch gatherings at Sunnyside Up on the first Wednesday of each month and we will be meeting in the evenings once a month at restaurants we can select based upon the HHS District or associated with alumni. This will be a very casual gathering for anyone interested in meeting other Hornets and at least one of the Alumni Association Board Members will be there. Let us know if you have any thoughts or comments on other venues or dates! This is a great opportunity to chat about the Hall of Fame and learn about other alumni association activities. Comment below so we have a rough headcount...

Last but not least on this years list of Inductees, is the only coach headed to the Hall of Fame in this 4th Class. Ralph "Judge" Chavez was the 2nd longest head football coach in school history and in that time span became the 2nd most winningest head football coach as well. Hed won 3 City Championships and was an assistant on the 1989 State Football Championship. In his 20 years as head football coach, he had 9 playoff appearances and 8 playoff wins. He won 3 District Championships and was the Alb Coaches Association Coach of the Year. 3 time District Coach of the Year. He coached Players of the Year Bobby Newcombe in 1995 and 1996 as well as Lester Aaron in 1999 and Rambo Fiaeau in 2000. He coached 12 players who went on to play Division 1 football and 2 players that went off to play in the NFL. (Newcombe/Baxter) We want to welcome Coach Chavez to the Highland High School Sports Hall of Fame and thank him for his many years of dedication to the kids and community of Highland High School. Congratulations Coach!!!!
