UPDATE: The woman who sent the donations messaged and Chewy is sending a replacement. Thank you, Liz H, for your amazing support ❤️
We got several Chewy packages today and unfortunately one of them was damaged during delivery.
I heard a couple really loud thuds on the porch, checked the camera, and saw one of the boxes get thrown onto the porch. A can of formula inside busted open and covered everything else in the box.
Chewy doesn’t include information telling us who sent wishlist packages, and since the order wasn’t placed through our account, they’re having a hard time figuring out who it came from. So if you recently sent us a can of formula along with some other items, please message the page.
I know in the grand scheme of things it’s one can of formula and probably seems pretty minor, but it honestly just made me really sad.
We are on our last can right now with nearly a dozen bottle babies spread between different fosters, and we never know when another tiny baby is going to show up needing it. But even beyond that, these donations mean more to us than just what they cost. Someone saw what we were doing, chose to spend their own money, and sent something to help take care of these babies. It’s support from our community showing up at our door, and seeing it ruined is just really discouraging.
I do want to say that I know these Chewy boxes can be ridiculously heavy. They’re often packed with litter, food, canned food, etc. We don’t control how Chewy packs them, and a lot of the time we aren’t even the ones placing the order. We actually feel terrible when huge heavy boxes show up because we know someone has to carry them, and whenever we’re here and see the driver, we will always help unload.
This delivery came much earlier in the day than our typical deliveries do so no one was readily available to go help if it was needed.
Our delivery people have always been great to us, and we really do appreciate them. I know their jobs aren’t easy, and this isn’t meant to be a complaint about delivery drivers in general.
It’s just one of those little things that feels bigger when there’s already so much going on. We have nearly 300 cats in our care right now, bottle babies, tube feedings, syringe feedings, medications, fosters needing supplies, and a million other things happening every day. Having to stop and spend time trying to track down an anonymous order because something someone donated was destroyed is just frustrating and sad.
If this was your package, please reach out. I really don’t want whoever sent it thinking we never got it or didn’t appreciate it. That goes for everyone who donates, we never get the names from Chewy on orders of donations and most of the time Amazon doesn't include the info either, they used to send little white slips with a name on them but we haven't seen those in months. We appreciate every single one of our supporters who sends us anything to help us care for these babies. We absolutely do. ❤️.
