Closing out the week feeling incredibly grateful! šŸ’›ā£
⁣
Earlier this week, Georgia Rehabilitation Institute representatives Dennis Skelley and Tiffany Howard stopped by to deliver the first installment of an unbelievably generous $50,000 pledge to help us pay off our new building — what an amazing gift!! 🤩⁣

We are so thankful for GRI’s continued support and investment in our mission.⁣

A big thank you to the Early Childhood Development students from Aiken High School for spending part of their morning learning about our work and touring Children’s Place! 🩵⁣
⁣
We loved welcoming these future educators and caregivers and sharing a glimpse of the many ways they can make a difference in the lives of young children.⁣

Counting never tasted so good! 🫐⁣
Our Owls put their counting skills to work while making Blueberry + Greek Yogurt Pops! As they added their blueberries one by one, they got a little hands-on practice with numbers — and helped make a pretty yummy treat along the way. ⁣
⁣
And if these look good to you, you’re in luck! šŸ‘€ We’re sharing the recipe in our upcoming Summer newsletter so you can make them at home, too!⁣

✨This month’s Staff Spotlight is shining bright on Latoya Martin, one of our bus drivers and a valued member of our Transportation & Support team! ✨

Latoya has been part of the Children’s Place family for two years. Her gentle, welcoming spirit makes everyone feel at ease, and her dedication to her work is evident in all that she does. Whether she’s behind the wheel or lending a helping hand around site, Latoya is someone our team knows they can count on!

For many of our children, their day at Children’s Place begins and ends with Toya. From their first ride in the morning to the trip home in the afternoon, she helps create a sense of safety and familiarity that makes a difference. Every day, her goal is to ā€œmake sure that the children go home with a smile on their face.ā€ As a bus driver, the safety of our children is always her number one priority—but she brings something just as important along for the ride: warmth, kindness, and a genuine care for each child.

Thank you, Toya, for your steadfast support of our children, families, and staff each and every day! šŸ’›

Last week, Peggy Ford and our Family Connections team — pictured with National SafeCare Training Specialist Roddey Jones — attended the Building Hope for Children Conference in Columbia, hosted by Children’s Trust of South Carolina!

We had the opportunity to share how Children’s Place utilizes SafeCare and Healthy Families America, two evidence-based home-visiting models, to support the children and families we serve every day.

We’re grateful to connect and grow alongside partners from across the state, and proud to bring what we learned back home to help strengthen the work we do for local families šŸ’™

What a special day at Children’s Place! 🌟

Today, we had the pleasure of welcoming members of the Order of the Eastern Star from across South Carolina for their first tour of our new home! We were so grateful to share our space, give them a glimpse into the work happening here each day, and receive their extraordinary gift in person.

Thank you for taking the time to visit, learn more about our mission, and invest in the work that we do with children and families. We are thankful to call you friends of Children’s Place! šŸ’™

We’re excited to be in Columbia for the 2026 Building Hope for Children Conference! šŸ’™

Yesterday, we received a special visit from Noble Lincoln Kelley of Aiken Islam Shrine Temple #4, who stopped by to present a generous donation in support of the children and families we serve! šŸ’™ā£
⁣
Children’s Place Advisory Board members Lois El and Christopher Emmanuel joined Executive Director Peggy Ford and Noble Kelley for the check presentation.⁣

Talk about a full-circle moment! 🩵 We love this throwback of a very young Charlie with one of our Children's Place buses—and even more what he's doing all these years later.⁣
⁣
Instead of gifts for his 16th birthday, Charlie asked his friends to bring soccer balls to donate to Children's Place āš½ļø (clearly, generosity runs in the Williams family!)
⁣
What a special, selfless way to celebrate 16! Thank you, Charlie, for thinking of our kids and choosing to make your birthday about giving back.
