We have been placing thousands of needy animals into loving forever homes for over 80 years. MISSION
We strive to improve the lives of companion animals by rehoming abused, abandoned, and neglected

pets while fighting for their well-being through vigorous legislative effort, humane education, and by offering affordable veterinary care for all. VISION
We envision a world in which every animal has a safe and loving home, access to quality veterinary care, and where the unfailing love and devotion of a companion animal is valued by all. We depend upon local donations to support our efforts to save the lives of homeless dogs and cats in our community and receive no regular funding from state or federal agencies, or from the ASPCA (a completely separate entity). Our success is due to the efforts of dedicated SPCA Albrecht Center employees and volunteers, leadership and support from our Board of Directors, as well as the generous donations and continued support of our community.

Emarosa came back to the shelter this morning. But not for the reason you might think🩵

She lives just a few minutes away now, and she managed to slip out of her home. Where did she go? Straight back here to visit her shelter bestie, Fabio🥹

So, of course, we let the old friends have a little playtime together before sending Emarosa safely back home. We don't know if Fabio was actually the reason she made her way back here, but we'd like to think he was.

Either way, seeing these two together again made our morning a little more special. We thought it might make yours, too✨🐾

When we shared that we were running low on KMR, our community showed up BIG🩵

Food and KMR came through the doors, in the mail, and our friends at Hollywood Feed - The Junction jumped into action and made a generous donation of their own to help us restock!

This is what your support looks like in real time. We tell you what we need, you show up, and suddenly a shelf that was looking a little too empty isn't so empty anymore.

To everyone who ordered from our wishlist, dropped off supplies, shared our post, or helped spread the word - thank you!

And a special thank you to our friends at Hollywood Feed for always being ready to jump in when our animals need a little extra help.

Our kittens may not know who filled their bottles... but we do, and we are grateful🐾✨

❗ Our Kittens Need KMR - Please Donate ❗
We’re running dangerously low on Kitten Milk Replacer (KMR), and with kittens still coming through our doors and into foster homes, we need to restock ASAP.

We use both powdered and liquid KMR to help our foster families keep the tiniest kittens fed, healthy, and growing. Whether it’s an orphaned bottle baby or a kitten who just needs a little extra nutritional support, we go through this stuff quickly.

If you can help us restock, we’ve linked both KMR options in the comments below. 📍 Donations can also be dropped off at the SPCA Albrecht Center — 199 Willow Run Rd, Aiken.

And if you’re feeling extra generous while you’re shopping, we’ll also drop our full wishlist in the comments — there are plenty of other kitten and shelter goodies we can always put to good use.

Every can and container helps us make sure our foster families have what they need when a hungry kitten arrives🩵🐾

September is Happy Cat Month! But what really makes a cat happy?🐱

Good health, mental stimulation, opportunities to play and explore, and the ability to simply be a cat all play an important role. And those needs matter whether a cat is curled up on your couch, waiting for adoption in a shelter, or living outdoors as a community cat.

This week’s article shares simple ways to enrich your cat’s life, why regular veterinary care and spay/neuter are so important, and how we can help all cats live healthier, safer and more fulfilling lives. 💚🐾

September 2, 2026 By: Sarah A. Neikam, SPCA Albrecht Center Marketing Director September is Happy Cat Month, which sounds like an easy celebration. Give your cat a few extra treats, open a fresh cardboard box, sprinkle some catnip around and call it a month, right?

And just like that... the last dog has been washed🥹

We wrapped up our final Dog Wash of the summer today with more than $1,300 raised, bringing this year's total to over $6,000!

These Saturdays have become one of those little summer traditions we genuinely look forward to, and we're so grateful to everyone who brought their dogs out, tipped a little extra, told a friend, or came back month after month.

More than $6,000 raised for shelter pets, one clean dog at a time🩵

To all of our regulars (human and canine), until next summer!🐾🫧

‼️UPDATE: ADOPTED!!

🚫 STOP SCROLLING ❗ READ THIS 🚫
This is one of those posts where we have to pull back the curtain a bit. The cat you see in the shadows here is Re*****on. And unfortunately, this is about as much of him as we've seen since he came back.

And getting this photo required a couple of our staff members to practically become acrobats just to catch a glimpse of his face.

Some mornings, if we're lucky, we'll see Re*****on come out of his hiding spot for a few minutes. But soon as the he sees someone, he retreats into this little donut and, more often than not, stays there for the rest of the day.

Re*****on hates it here.

He was adopted from us as a small kitten and returned after the loss of his beloved owner. He went from knowing a home, a person, and a routine to suddenly finding himself back in a shelter.

We've tried to connect with him. Our staff and volunteers continue to try. But the reality is that a busy shelter can not give Re*****on the hours of quiet, consistent one-on-one time it may take for him to trust someone again.

And there lies the biggest problem... How does a cat get adopted when nobody ever gets to see him?

That's why we're telling you about him here.

We can't promise that Re*****on will walk into your house and immediately curl up on the couch. He probably won't. But he needs someone willing to give him a quiet room, some space, and enough time to figure things out on his own terms.

He may enjoy having another friendly cat around. A quiet home without small children would be best.

But staying hidden in this donut all day is not a life we want for him.

Re*****on needs something we simply can't give him here - time, quiet, and one person willing to give him a chance.

If that sounds like something you can offer, please visit or email [email protected] to talk to our team about adoption.

And if adoption isn't for you, share this post.

His person isn't going to find him by walking past his empty-looking kennel. Maybe they'll find him here 🩵🐾

For TODAY only❗ FREE adult dog adoptions❗ HALF-OFF puppy adoptions❗

It's International Dog Day, so naturally... we're making it all about the dogs, you don't have to adopt to give a shelter dog a great day!

Stop by and ask about our Doggie Day Out! Take one of our dogs out for a few hours. Go for a walk, grab a pup cup from Flanigan's Ice Cream, explore Downtown Dog and get a new toy, hang out on the couch, or just give them a chance to enjoy some time away from the shelter.

Adopt one. Borrow one. Spoil one. However you celebrate, we'd say spending International Dog Day with a dog is a pretty solid choice🩵
