View Available Pets Here: https://shorturl.at/DSf9w Established in 1935, the SPCA Albrecht Center for Animal Welfare is a private, non-profit organization operating under IRS Section 501c3. We have been placing thousands of needy animals into loving forever homes for over 80 years. MISSION
We strive to improve the lives of companion animals by rehoming abused, abandoned, and neglected pets while

fighting for their well-being through vigorous legislative effort, humane education, and by offering affordable veterinary care for all. VISION
We envision a world in which every animal has a safe and loving home, access to quality veterinary care, and where the unfailing love and devotion of a companion animal is valued by all. We depend upon local donations to support our efforts to save the lives of homeless dogs and cats in our community and receive no regular funding from state or federal agencies, or from the ASPCA (a completely separate entity). Our success is due to the efforts of dedicated SPCA Albrecht Center employees and volunteers, leadership and support from our Board of Directors, as well as the generous donations and continued support of our community.

We've been looking around the dog kennels lately and honestly, we're a little confused.

Usually, when a dog gets overlooked we can point to a reason. Maybe they're a little too energetic. Maybe they're huge or they're black-coated. Maybe they're one of those dogs that takes a few extra visits to appreciate.

But right now, we've got kennel after kennel full of dogs that should be going home. Good dogs! Dogs that know commands and are housebroken. Dogs that love people and ride well in the car. Dogs that are happy to go on adventures or just as happy to spend the evening on the couch.

Even so, they're still here. And we're starting to worry about the space we have left. Pick Me SC continues this week, and ❗all adult dog adoptions are FREE❗

So if you've been considering adoption, this is the week to come by with an open mind and meet our dogs. Not just the tiny fluffy one. Not just the puppy. Some of the best dogs in this shelter aren't the ones people stop to look at first.

Our dogs are great and they deserve the chance to show you who they are!

We heard you in the comments… Loud and clear!

The kittens got adopted too fast or the special ended too soon. Some of you were stuck at work.

So, good news. Starting tomorrow, we’re joining the SC Pick Me adoption event and offering ❗️fee-waived adoptions for all adult dogs, cats, and kittens❗️

Consider this your second chance. If you missed out last week or were personally victimized by kittens getting adopted too quickly… this is your moment!

We’ll have plenty of wonderful pets looking for homes.

See you Friday💙🐾

Meet Fred 🐾🩵 He is a four-year-old hound mix with a pretty easygoing approach to life.

He enjoys a nice walk, but he’s not trying to climb a mountain. He likes other dogs, but he’s not really looking for a wrestling partner. Fred is more of a mingle, sniff around, say hello, and keep things moving kind of guy.

With people, he can be a little shy at first, but it doesn’t last long. Once he warms up, he’s happy to settle in for a good cuddle session and enjoy the company.

Fred is just an all-around good dog. Lowkey, friendly, and easy to like. If you’re looking for a companion who doesn’t need life to be loud to enjoy it, Fred would be a great fit.

Aiken's Top Dog has only been live for a week, and we've already got 9 contestants in the running!🐾

Even better? Together, they've already helped us reach 6% of our $20,000 fundraising goal. Not a bad start if you ask us!

There's still plenty of time to join the competition. We've already seen some pretty strong contenders enter the race, but we know there are plenty more out there.

👇 So here's your assignment👇
Tag someone whose dog has the chops to be Aiken's Top Dog.

The neighborhood celebrity. The one with a fan club. The one who never misses a chance to pose for a photo. You know exactly who we're talking about!

Think your pup has what it takes? Registration is still open, and we'd love to add a few more names to the leaderboard.

This mama cat and her babies were left outside our shelter door overnight. Packed into a crate with food, toys, and everything someone thought they might need until morning.

The kittens appear healthy. Mama is friendly. We can see that someone cared about them. But we need to be very clear:❗Please do not leave animals outside our shelter❗

Not overnight. Not before we open. Not after we close. Leaving animals outside after hours is dangerous, even when it comes from a good place.

Animals can escape. Predators can take advantage. Emergencies happen. And if nobody knows they are there, hours can pass before anyone finds them.

We understand that sometimes people find themselves in difficult situations. Sometimes it's a stray cat or it's a litter of kittens. Sometimes it's a pet they can no longer keep. But this is not the solution.

If you need help, call us. If you've found a stray animal, call us. If you're unable to keep your pet, call us.

During open hours, we can help guide you through the next steps. Even when we don't have space available for intake, there are often other options. In many cases, we may be able to provide food, supplies, medical care, and support while animals remain safely in foster care until they're ready for adoption.

The person who left this feline family clearly cared, and so do we. We all want what's best for the animals - but we can do even more when we work together.

❗FREE ADOPTIONS ON ALL CATS AND KITTENS TODAY & TOMORROW❗
147... That's how many cats and kittens came through our doors last month in May.

The good news? Many of the tiny babies who arrived weeks ago are finally big enough for their surgeries, vaccines, and adoption floor debut. The bad news? The next wave of kittens is already warming up in the back.

Our adoption floor is filling up entirely too fast, and we'd really like to stay one step ahead of the annual kitten avalanche. So this weekend we're making it easy:

❗FREE ADOPTIONS ON ALL CATS AND KITTENS FRIDAY 6/5 AND SATURDAY 6/6❗If you've been thinking about adopting, now is a pretty great time... And our Shelter Manager's blood pressure will remain at acceptable levels.

Everybody wins.
