Finnish seafarer Ali Albokhari has spent three years imprisoned in Türkiye. NTF stands with Ali and his family and fully supports the call by the ITF Executive Board for his immediate release.

Holding a position of responsibility aboard a ship cannot, by itself, make a seafarer criminally responsible for the actions of organized criminals.

Plenty on the agenda in Tallinn! 🇪🇪

European dockers met on Friday to discuss EU port and maritime policies, social dialogue, safety, disputes and collective bargaining, as well as ETF Congress 2027.

Good to see a shared understanding of the way forward, particularly on the European Sector Social Dialogue.

Civil shipping is a vital part of Nato defence and preparedness.

Yesterday at Norway House in Brussels, the Norwegian TUC (LO Norge), seafarers’ unions, maritime employers, the EU, Nato, national armed forces representatives and other stakeholders came together for a seminar covering vital topics including total defence, preparedness, NATO cooperation, the role of civilian seafarers and security in the High North.

Full solidarity with the striking train drivers in Norway

Today, NTF joined the demonstration of the striking train drivers in Oslo to express our full support for the members of the Norwegian Locomotive Drivers' Union (Norsk Lokomotivførerforbund).

NTF General Secretary Anu Hietala addressed the demonstration and conveyed a message of solidarity from transport workers across the Nordic region. A large international delegation was also present, and ITF - International Transport Workers' Federation President Paddy Crumlin delivered a strong speech in support of the striking workers.

The strike concerns the planned integration of Flytoget into Vy and the demand for equal pay and equal working conditions for train drivers performing the same work. NLF is also fighting for fair and predictable working hours, control over working time and time off, and ensuring that workers do not bear the cost of organisational changes and mergers.

NTF stands firmly behind the principle of equal pay for equal work and supports the Norwegian train drivers in their efforts to secure fair conditions for all railway workers.

Today it's food deliveries. Tomorrow it could be your job.

A thought-provoking article from AKT looks at how platform work is spreading into ever more sectors of society. What began with food delivery now includes medicines, parcels, retail goods and a growing range of services.

The concern is not technology itself. The concern is a business model that too often transfers risks and responsibilities from companies to workers while undermining collective agreements and established labour standards.

This is why Nordic transport unions last week issued a joint statement on platform work and Wolt. The challenges are increasingly shared across the Nordic countries, and so must be our response.

The future of work should be digital, innovative and efficient. But it must also be fair.
