Today, the Vincentian Missionaries Social Development Foundation, Inc. (VMSDFI) held a meeting led by Executive Director, Fr. Geowen Porcincula, CM, together with Ms. Mariou Clavido, RSW (Deputy Director on Programs), Mr. Romeo Ariola (SEDO Officer), and Ms. Gerlie Aban (from PDO Department), to discuss the upcoming Vincentian Foundation Cup 2025! 🎉

The league will officially launch on November 8, 2025, featuring Basketball and Volleyball games.
This activity aims to strengthen community ties, promote unity, and encourage a healthy lifestyle through sports and active participation.

The event is a response to the community’s request to have another sports league—an idea personally shared with Fr. Geowen Porcincula, CM during the recent Feast of St. Vincent de Paul celebration.

If you take a few minutes and browse the internet on the effects of 𝗵𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗹𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 on people around the world, it will provide you with the following information: 𝗮 𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗹𝘆 𝘀𝗵𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗮𝗻, 𝗮 𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝗶𝗻𝗳𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝘂𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗰𝗵𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗶𝗰 𝗱𝗶𝘀𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗲 𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝘀, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗮 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝘀𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝗳 𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵 𝗶𝘀𝘀𝘂𝗲𝘀 𝘀𝘂𝗰𝗵 𝗮𝘀 𝘀𝘂𝗯𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗮𝗯𝘂𝘀𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘀𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀. But sadly enough, these are just some of the many elaborate impacts of housing insecurity.

Over the past ten years, worldwide conversations involving those trying to address homelessness from around the globe led to the rise of the idea of 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐥𝐝 𝐇𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐃𝐚𝐲. This international day hopes to provide an opportunity to recognize accomplishments, assess advancements, and promote better funding and policies that can help prevent and end homelessness.

𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐥𝐝 𝐇𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐃𝐚𝐲 reminds us that millions of people around the world continue to live without the dignity and safety of a home. 𝗜𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗣𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗽𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀, 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗻 𝟯 𝗺𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗽𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝗠𝗲𝘁𝗿𝗼 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗹𝗮 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗻𝗼 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝘀𝗵𝗲𝗹𝘁𝗲𝗿—𝗺𝗮𝗻𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗺 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘀𝗹𝗲𝗲𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗲𝘁𝘀, 𝗶𝗻 𝗽𝘂𝘀𝗵𝗰𝗮𝗿𝘁𝘀, 𝗼𝗿 𝗯𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗵 𝗯𝗿𝗶𝗱𝗴𝗲𝘀.

Carrying the genuine hope to contribute in aiding the homeless, we renewed our mission this year through the 𝐎𝐧𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐝 𝐇𝐨𝐦𝐞 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐣𝐞𝐜𝐭, a transitional supported housing program of the 𝗩𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗮𝗻 𝗠𝗶𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗦𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗗𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗙𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, 𝗜𝗻𝗰. (𝗩𝗠𝗦𝗗𝗙𝗜) in partnership with the 𝐕𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐚𝐧 𝐅𝐚𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐲 𝐏𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐩𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬 and Depaul International. Through this, families who once lived on the streets are given a safe space to rebuild their lives—receiving psychosocial support, mental health care, and livelihood assistance as they take their first steps toward permanent housing.

Housing units are built with an eco-friendly and disaster-resilient construction method developed by BASE Builds Base Bahay Foundation, a long partner of VMSDFI in housing programs.

This effort continues the Vincentian Foundation’s long-term commitment to 𝐂𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐇𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐬𝐬, which was given a more concrete direction in 2022 with the 𝟏𝟑 𝐇𝐨𝐮𝐬𝐞𝐬 𝐂𝐚𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐢𝐠𝐧 of the Famvin Homeless Alliance (FHA)—building typhoon-resilient homes for families displaced by Super Typhoon Odette (Rai). VMSDFI and FHA were able to build ten model housing units in 5 project areas, meant to be replicable for other hundreds of families who are homeless or those in inadequate housing conditions.

𝐎𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐫𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐟 𝐚𝐢𝐝 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐨𝐧𝐥𝐲 𝐝𝐞𝐦𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐬 𝐚 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐢𝐭𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐡𝐞𝐥𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐠, 𝐛𝐮𝐭 𝐚𝐥𝐬𝐨 𝐚 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤 𝐭𝐨𝐠𝐞𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐭𝐨 𝐦𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐢𝐭 𝐡𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐞𝐧 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐬𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐧𝐞𝐞𝐝.

Out of 7 barangays, we were able to provide a total of 303 house repair kits and 289 relief packs as part of our disaster response in Masbate City and in the town Mandaon. This effort has been a wonderful manifestation of compassion and generosity.

Through the continued efforts of our compassionate partners, we were able to extend help to 𝟳𝟴 𝗳𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗠𝗮𝘀𝗯𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗖𝗶𝘁𝘆, 𝗠𝗮𝘀𝗯𝗮𝘁𝗲, through the distribution of House Repair Kits.

We express our heartfelt gratitude to our generous donors — especially 𝗠𝗿. 𝗕𝗶𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗧𝗮𝗻 for his steadfast support and generosity — and to our dedicated volunteers and the 𝗗𝗮𝘂𝗴𝗵𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘆, who served as our hands and feet on the ground.

As of October 5, we have gathered a total of ₱177,961.00 in cash donations and have distributed 1,692 relief packs to those affected by the recent earthquake.

We are deeply grateful to everyone who shared their time, resources, and compassion. Your generosity truly mirrors the Vincentian spirit of service, love, and solidarity with those in need.
