New foster kittens alert!

Earlier this week, someone dumped four tiny kittens in front of an abandoned neighbor’s yard. They were clean, friendly, and clearly used to people, so I’m guessing they were born to someone’s unspayed pet cat.

And sadly, we all know how this story goes: someone doesn’t spay their cat, kittens are born, and when they become inconvenient, they get dumped and left to fend for themselves.

Thankfully, these four little girls are safe now and have joined the BARK house as fosters.

They’re eating well, having formed poops, and settling in nicely. They could use a little more weight, so we’ll be keeping a close eye on them and making sure they get what they need to grow strong and healthy.

There’s a LOT happening at right now, and it's overwhelming. But when is rescue ever not?

For now, these girls are safe, warm, fed, and loved. All we ask is that they continue to grow healthy and eventually find the loving forever homes they deserve.

Everyone, meet Kobe!

So this is a bit of an odd situation. Odd in the sense that this is the first time something like this has happened to us.

To give a little backstory, we recently hired a new helper named Angel to help with some tasks around the house. When she arrived, she came with this little guy in tow, which was quite a surprise to everyone at home.

Kobe is an Aspin puppy, not more than 6 weeks old. I asked Angel where she got him from, and she said she had just adopted him. That didn't really reveal much about why she brought him with her, but okay. I'm not one to turn away a puppy in need of a safe place to live and grow. So, for now, Kobe is staying with us, and I've taken on shared responsibility for making sure he's safe and well cared for.

In order for me to do that, Kobe will need a visit to the vet soon. He's still very young, so I want to get him started on his core vaccinations to help protect him from preventable diseases, as well as protect my own dogs at home.

Help towards Kobe's upcoming vet visit, and puppy needs like milk and puppy food, would be greatly appreciated. Our donation channels can be found on the last slide.

A time was had at Cat Con.

Posting this a little late, but I couldn't pass up sharing what an incredible experience it was to spend the day with fellow community cat caregivers.

The week leading up to Cat Con gave me a lot to think about. My veterinary school had just held its annual pet expo, and seeing the focus placed on exotic pet breeders instead of rescue organizations or animal welfare advocacy left me feeling conflicted. It made me wonder how differently people can define what it means to care for animals.

But being at Cat Con reminded me that like-minded people do exist. It was wonderful finally meeting online friends in person and connecting with people who share the same passion for helping community cats.

Cat Con reminded me why we continue to advocate for community cats. It was also a pleasant surprise to see several city veterinarians attend the event and genuinely listen to the concerns of the people who care for our community cat populations. Those conversations gave me hope that there are so many people working toward the same goal: making our communities kinder and safer for cats.

Thank you to Biyaya Animal Care and PAWS for hosting such a wonderful celebration of community cats. I left feeling inspired, encouraged, and reminded that even when the work feels lonely, we're never doing it alone.

Happy hump day! 🧡

This weekend, foster kitten, Pumpkin, along with his littermates and a few of our community cat friends, will finally be getting neutered.

We're making the trip to our trusted low-cost clinic, Biyaya Katarungan, and we're reaching out for a little help to cover the costs.

Foster kitten Melon... although at one year old, can I still call him a kitten? 🍈

It’s been almost a year since I found Melon and his siblings outside our home. While they may technically be adults now, they all somehow kept their baby faces and adorable munchkin-shaped bodies. They never really grew taller—just longer—which makes them look permanently kitten-sized.

After a few health setbacks that delayed their vet care, I'm happy to share that we're finally moving forward with getting Melon and his siblings vaccinated and spayed/neutered.

The goal is to get these babies healthy, fully vetted, and ready to find their forever homes.

Hi everyone! I know it's been silent on here for a while. Thought I'd let you all know that I just finished my second semester of vet school. Also, earlier this year, I had the very unpleasant experience of getting my wallet stolen and the thief racking up charges on my credit cards. (FTB🖕)

Anyway, I finally caught a bit of a break from school so I want to update you all on our fosters (yes, they’re still here).

Let’s start with Cow
As some of you might remember, Cow was adopted last year. Unfortunately, he was later diagnosed with FIP while with his adopter. Due to the financial strain of treatment, he was returned to my care. It's been months since we finished his treatment and I’m so happy to say, Cow is now fully cured!

He’s also been neutered and has completed his core vaccinations (4-in-1 and ARV). His FIP days are now just a distant memory, with only a few healed GS scars as proof of how far he’s come.

Cow is ready for his forever home—his real one this time. He’s incredibly loving, a little vocal when he wants something, and the perfect chill companion.

Are you the owner of this cat?

The workers at an auto shop in BANAWE ST corner MACOPA, QC. Said this cat jumped/ was possibly dumped out of a moving vehicle, around 2 MONTHS ago. We've secured him and are including him in our TNVR today. If you own this cat and want him back, please message us. He's sweet and didn't put up a fight when I caught him.

Please share this post and hopefully we can reach his owner.
