Youth Against Corruption: Building Regional Solidarity in ASEAN!

The Center to Combat Corruption and Cronyism (C4 Center), with the support of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime and together with experts from the Southeast Asian Anti-Corruption Network for Civil Society Organisations (SEA-ACN), convened a two-day (May 8-9, 2026) regional workshop in Malaysia focused on empowering youth to identify corruption red flags and strengthen anti-corruption initiatives across the ASEAN region. 🇲🇾🤝🇦🇸

We are proud to share that G-Watch (Government Watch) (G-Watch) was invited to participate in this important regional engagement, represented by G-Watch Lanao del Sur Coordinator Isnihayah Tomawis Gontor Binumbaran

This workshop serves as a platform for young leaders, advocates, and civil society actors across Southeast Asia to exchange experiences, strengthen accountability mechanisms, and advance collective action against corruption.

Together, we continue to champion transparency, participatory governance, and youth-led accountability for a more just and corruption-free ASEAN. ✊📢

Iftar Talk: Culture and Accountability

Yesterday, we gathered not just to break our fast but to break silence.

Youth from diverse sectors came together in one shared space to reflect on culture, faith, and our collective responsibility to uphold justice and accountability in our communities. What unfolded was more than a program it was a sincere exchange of stories, convictions, and courage.

We were reminded that:
• Culture is shaped by what we tolerate and normalize.
• Faith demands justice.
• Accountability begins within internally.

From meaningful dialogue to thoughtful workshop conversations, every voice contributed to a deeper understanding of what it means to stand firm in integrity even when it is difficult.

To all our participants, thank you for your presence, honesty, and willingness to engage beyond comfort. You are proof that youth are not passive observers of society but culture-shapers and accountability advocates.

May the discipline of Ramadan continue to guide our actions beyond this gathering.

Ako. Ikaw. Tayo. May Pananagutan. 🌿

Corruption and injustice thrive when silence becomes normal. As youth, we carry the power and responsibility to speak truth, protect dignity, and build a culture of integrity. Through reflective discussion, honest dialogue, and shared Iftar, we aim to create a safe and inclusive space where young people can explore how faith, culture, identity, and social responsibility shape our courage to speak out and act.
