On the morning of February 1, 2026, the sun cast a warm glow over the shores of Barangay Labac, Naic, Cavite. The Mountaineering & Exploration Society of Adamson University (MESAU) joined the dedicated volunteer patrollers of the Labac Pawikan Sanctuary for a pawikan release and cleanup drive โ a day where care and action came together.
Since its founding in 2009 by the former Barangay Captain of Labac, the sanctuary has grown into a close-knit community protecting pawikans and guiding hatchlings safely to the sea.
Armed with sacks and determination, we collected litter along the shoreline, making the beach safer for the little turtles. Then came the magical moment: watching tiny pawikans crawl across the sand and disappear into the waves. Each turtleโs journey reminded us that even small acts of care can create ripples of hope.
This day wasnโt just about releasing turtles. It was about teamwork, compassion, and the shared effort to protect life โ a story of hope we were proud to be part of.
