Medical Technology, Physical Therapy Earn PACUCOA Level I Accreditation

The Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology and Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy programs of Wesleyan University-Philippines (WUP) received Level I Formal Accredited Status (January 2026 to January 2029) from the Philippine Association of Colleges and Universities Commission on Accreditation (PACUCOA) on January 31, 2026.

According to Dean Kay Ann J. Tongol of the College of Allied Medical Sciences (CAMS), they were very thrilled and surprised to receive the news.

โ€œWe were very happy to receive the news, especially since we had a hard time with compliance during the previous visit (last November 19โ€“20, 2025.) It is also a surprise to the academic support since this is the first PACUCOA Formal Level I accreditation,โ€ she said.

She also noted how the PACUCOA process demonstrated a preference for online exhibits over traditional printed documents. โ€œThe tool is differentโ€ฆ PACUCOA accreditors appreciated online exhibits more than printed ones. Perhaps, it is their way of doing their sustainability contribution.โ€

According to the report of Dr. John Jason Villaroman, Quality Assurance Office (QAO) Director, the other CMAS programs, BS in Pharmacy and BS in Radiologic Technology, remained in Candidate Status.

โ€œThe BS in Pharmacy and BS in Radiologic Technology are still under deliberation, but we are hoping for positive results for our University,โ€ he related.

These newly accredited programs were added to WUPโ€™s growing list of programs with formal accreditation levels, bringing the total to 26. The report of the QAO Director also reflected five programs with candidate status and one with associate status.

The College of Allied Medical Sciences successfully conducted CAMS Night 2026 last January 31, 2026, at the WUP Gymnasium, with the theme โ€œStarry Night: Midnight at the Valley.โ€ The event officially began at 5:00 PM was attended by students, faculty members, and administrators of the college.

The program formally opened with an invocation and opening remarks delivered by Dr. Wilfredo C. Ramos, EdD, Vice President for Academic Affairs. The evening was facilitated by the Masters of Ceremony KC Anne Datangel and Chong Hwa Anne Florentino from the Radiologic Technology Department, together with Amara Jayne Go from the Medical Technology Department, ensuring the smooth flow of the program.

Intermission numbers were presented by the CAMS Local Council, Blessy Erlyn Gamayao of the Medical Technology Department, Louize Anne De Leon of the Pharmacy Department, and the Radiologic Technology Student Organization.

Games and interactive activities were hosted by Reids Dean Garcia and Jeremias Gabriel from the Pharmacy Department, along with Erielle Tiburcio of the Medical Technology Department and Vice Governor of CAMS.

This was followed by dinner and the election of awardees through Google Docs, allowing students and faculty to actively participate, and vote their chosen awardees.

One of the highlights of the event was the presentation of CAMS Night awardees. In the student category, John Ace Soledad and Charlene Ross of the Radiologic Technology Department were conferred the titles Mr. and Ms. CAMS Night, respectively, while Aldrin Mahilaga, also from the same department, received the Q***r Icon Award. For the faculty category, Prof. Jaybee Aquino of the Radiologic Technology Department and Prof. Nadine Reyes of the Pharmacy Department were awarded Mr. and Ms. CAMS Night, respectively. The Q***r Icon Award was presented to Prof. Andy Macasaquit of the Radiologic Technology Department.

The celebration concluded with the party featuring a lively band performance featuring Erielle Tiburcio, Mika Dizon,Lara Viernes of Medical Technology Department, and Joshua Miralles of Radiologic Technology Department. Lastly, the program formally ended with a closing prayer led by Jan Lancelot Ramos, Governor of CAMS.
