Dr. Divinagracia developed the C.O.M.P.O.S.U.R.E Model, a theory that proposes a set of behaviors that advanced nurse practitioners should embody to improve the wellness outcomes of their patients. C.O.M.P.O.S.U.R.E stands for Competence, Presence and Prayer, Open-mindedness, Stimulation, Understanding, Respect and Relaxation, and Empathy. These qualities were designed to guide advanced nurse practitioners in delivering care that improves the wellness outcomes of their patients, addressing both the physiological and biobehavioral dimensions of well-being.

In the clinical setting, the C.O.M.P.O.S.U.R.E Model serves as a practical guide for how nurses carry themselves at the bedside. A competent nurse who is open to the patientโ€™s preferences, offers words of encouragement, shows genuine understanding, and responds with empathy creates an environment where healing is not just possible but more likely. As nursing students, this theory challenges us to be not just skilled nurses, but truly present and compassionate ones.

On June 18, 2026, from 9:00 AM to 12:00 NN at the Chapel of the Holy Guardian Angel, the student nurses of ๐๐š๐ญ๐œ๐ก ๐‹๐ฎ๐ฆ๐ข๐žฬ€๐ซ๐ž gathered to celebrate a significant milestone through their Capping and Pinning Ceremony.

The program commenced with the preliminaries, led by the Master of Ceremonies, ๐—”๐˜€๐˜€๐˜. ๐—ฃ๐—ฟ๐—ผ๐—ณ. ๐—ฅ๐—ฒ๐—ถ ๐—”๐—ป๐—ด๐—ฒ๐—น๐—ผ ๐— ๐—ฎ๐—ป๐—ด๐—ถ๐—ฏ๐—ถ๐—ป, including the singing of the Philippine National Anthem. This was followed by the Rationale of the Capping and Candle Lighting Ceremony delivered by the Dean of the School of Nursing and Allied Medical Sciences (SNAMS), ๐——๐—ฟ. ๐—˜๐—น๐—บ๐—ฒ๐—ฟ ๐——. ๐—•๐—ผ๐—ป๐—ฑ๐—ผ๐—ฐ. The explanation of the batch name and the introduction of the 2026 Florence Nightingale, ๐—”๐˜€๐˜€๐˜. ๐—ฃ๐—ฟ๐—ผ๐—ณ. ๐—ฅ๐—ฒ๐—ถ๐—น๐—ฒ๐—ป๐—ป๐—ฒ๐—ณ๐—ฒ ๐——. ๐——๐—ถ๐˜‡๐—ผ๐—ป, were presented by the RLE Coordinator, ๐—”๐˜€๐˜€๐˜. ๐—ฃ๐—ฟ๐—ผ๐—ณ. ๐—๐—ฒ๐—ป๐—ป๐—ถ๐—ณ๐—ฒ๐—ฟ ๐—ค. ๐—ค๐˜‚๐—ถ๐—ป๐˜๐—ฒ๐—น๐—ฎ.

A highlight of the ceremony was the Imposition of Caps and Pins and the Lighting of the Lamps, officiated by Dr. Elmer D. Bondoc together with the Vice President for Academic Affairs, ๐——๐—ฟ. ๐—”๐—น ๐——. ๐—•๐—ถ๐—ฎ๐—ด. The ceremony concluded with the Nightingale Pledge, led by Class Representative ๐—–๐—ต๐—ฎ๐—ฒ๐—น ๐—”๐—ป๐—ฑ๐—ฟ๐—ฒ๐—ถ ๐—š. ๐— ๐—ฒ๐—ป๐—ฑ๐—ผ๐˜‡๐—ฎ, followed by the singing of the HAU Hymn.

As caps were bestowed and pins were worn, each student took a meaningful step beyond preparation and closer to the noble calling of the nursing profession.

Chronic kidney disease (CKD) affects about 674 million people worldwide, most of whom live in low- and middle-income countries. In the Philippines, at least 13 million people are estimated to have various stages of the disease. Numerous individuals suffer from diseases associated with the kidneys, but unfortunately, the problem goes unnoticed until it becomes severe.

In advanced or severe kidney disease, symptoms may include fatigue, breathlessness, generalized itchiness, leg swelling, muscle cramps, nausea or vomiting. Kidney disease occurs when the kidneys can no longer effectively remove waste and excess fluid from the blood, often requiring dialysis or a kidney transplant in severe cases. Its prevalence is increasing alongside rising rates of diabetes, hypertension, and population aging.

World Kidney Day (WKD) launched in 2006, and since then, it has kept growing globally. The 2026 theme โ€œKidney Health for All: Caring for People, Protecting the Planetโ€ focused on the strong relation between kidney and planetary health. It stated the possible environmental factors, such as air pollution, heat, and dehydration, that may raise the risk of kidney disease, while certain treatments affect the environment. The main objectives of WKD 2026 are to promote early diagnosis, encourage people to lead a healthy life, and emphasize the importance of having healthy kidneys.
