Through their expertise, innovation, and perseverance, they continue to demonstrate the capability of Filipino engineers to excel on the international stage.
Today, we feature ๐๐ป๐ด๐ฟ. ๐๐ฒ๐๐ถ๐ป ๐ฅ๐ผ๐๐ ๐ ๐ฎรฑ๐ฎ๐น๐ฎ๐ฐ, ๐๐๐๐, a proud Electronics Engineer currently serving as a Network Development Engineer II at Amazon Web Services (AWS), one of the worldโs leading cloud computing and technology companies. His story reflects determination, resilience, and continuous self-improvementโfrom overcoming academic setbacks and navigating demanding career challenges, to becoming part of a team responsible for supporting critical global network infrastructure.
His journey serves as an inspiration to aspiring engineers and young professionals who continue to pursue growth in the ever-evolving field of electronics, telecommunications, and information technology. Through his experiences, he reminds us that success is not always a straight path, but one built through learning, adaptability, and the courage to keep moving forward despite uncertainties.

My journey was not exactly straightforward. I shifted courses early on, which delayed me by around two years. At the time, it honestly felt incredibly frustrating to go back to zero. Looking at all those subjects left to take and realizing I had a full five years ahead of me felt so heavy. But when I got to Holy Angel University, things finally started to click. I met great friends, was fortunate to be guided by Doc Cโa mentor who truly believed in me and pointed me in the right directionโand got exposed to networking through the Cisco Networking Academy. That was the turning point where I knew this was the field I wanted to pursue. I became completely hooked, and by the time I graduated, I had already completed my CCNP. More than just a title, it reflected that intense drive to make up for lost time and how invested I had become in learning the craft. During my first few years of work, I prioritized growth and experience instead of comfort. I battled through Metro Manila, trading long, exhausting commutes and intense environments to gain experience. I treated those years as an extension of school because real-world experience teaches you things a classroom never can. Every role I tookโfrom building/troubleshooting enterprise networks, to rebuilding banking infrastructure, to working at Ciscoโadded another layer to my foundation. Eventually, focusing on that growth is what opened the door to join AWS.

One of the most memorable parts of working at AWS is being surrounded by world-class engineers. You learn an incredible amount just watching how they approach complex problems, which is vital because troubleshooting at AWS scale is inherently high-stakes. With so many moving parts, minor events can ripple out to affect critical global infrastructure. Navigating that intense operational pressure ultimately teaches you a deeper appreciation for reliability. At AWS, we say the best version of our job is when customers never notice the network. When you are smoothly streaming your favorite movies and shows, or when a business runs without a glitch, that is us quietly doing our work behind the scenes. Invisibility is the proof that we are connecting the world right.

I think the biggest contribution I can make is simply by being here and showing that it is possible. Every Filipino ECE working at the highest level of global tech infrastructure is proof that our education, our profession, and our people belong in these rooms and on these teams. What makes me even prouder is that all of the Filipino Network Development Engineers I know at Amazon are ECEs. Every single one of them. That is not a coincidenceโit is a powerful testament to what the ECE program produces. Our background gives us a strong foundation in systems thinking, communications, and engineering principles that translates directly into high-impact international careers. ECE is not just a local qualification; it is a launchpad that proves Filipino engineers can thrive on the global stage.

To fellow IECEP members and students starting their careers, donโt be too afraid of making mistakes. Most career decisions are not permanent "one-way doors"โthey are "two-way doors"โif a choice doesn't work out, you can always walk back through it, adjust, and apply what you learned along the way. Focus on your own consistent improvement and find areas where you can contribute uniquely. Sometimes opportunities come not because you know everything already, but because you were the one willing to step forward, take action, and adapt. Maraming salamat, IECEP!
