Failure might be doing more for you than success is 💡

TKATR was fortunate to interview Tā Kim Workman in 2019. We asked if he could share any lessons or advice for Māori working in the Public Service. His kōrero reaches well beyond public sector kaimahi, and figured it was well worth sharing for some midweek motivation 💪

Failure is practice - how are your attempts shaping your future impact? 👇

Today marks the beginning of Koroneihana, a time to celebrate Te Arikinui Kuini Nga wai hono i te po, the Kīngitanga movement, and to reflect on the responsibilities we carry as Māori.

In this video, Rahui Papa shares kōrero from our Māori Leadership Panel on the importance of leadership, service and standing firmly in who we are.

As our people come together to celebrate Koroneihana, may we continue to nurture our people, uplift our communities, and carry forward the aspirations of those who came before us for the uri to come.

We mourn the passing of Rauru Broughton - a generous rangatira who dedicated his life to serving his people.

Rauru shared his whakaaro on rangatiratanga Māori with us, including this reflection on the values of a leader and the importance of ngākau aroha ki te tangata. It is a whakaaro that feels deeply reflective of the person he was and the way he carried himself in service to others.

His kupu, wisdom, and endless contributions will continue to live on through those who had the privilege of learning from him.

Moe mai rā e te rangatira.

We’re still unpacking this one 🧠💭✨

Over the coming weeks, we’ll be sharing more kōrero, whakaaro and moments from last week’s Te Kai a te Rangatira × Te Whare Wānanga o Waikato leadership panel 🗣️

To start, here’s a whakaaro from Rahui Papa worth sitting with: “Me rongo koe i te kawa o te hē, kia rongo koe i te reka o te tika.”

The whakaaro speaks for itself, while opening up so much to reflect on... growth, resilience, appreciation, perspective, the experiences that shape us - we could go on!

How does this whakaaro resonate with you? 💭👇

More kōrero from the night to come… 🎙️👀✨
