I have started this page as I'm about to become homeless by choice. I am a hard working father who has a son needing immediate mental health support. Because of his high needs and behavioural challenges, he is not welcome to stay with family and friends homes. He is currently unable to self manage but he needs someone who will never give up on him and that's where I come into the picture. I know that the homeless situation for many has a lot to do with people not understanding mental health conditions and associated behaviours when someone is unwell, my son has burnt many bridges trying to express himself without emotional regulating tools, but his heart is soft and very used to hurting because of how easy it's been to dismiss him and walk away. My boy deserves a much better life and I am determined to assist him and others living rough by living rough alongside them, I have lots of experience in the health sector and currently work in mental health so I have an ability to assist others to heal some of the wounds they carry and to listen to their stories etc. More importantly, I want my son to know that at his greatest time of need, his dad was willing to end a relationship in order to help him to develop and grow in trust of others again and in life itself.
As I see it, Our homeless deserve help, they're worthy of help and they are loved.
All I ask is if you would consider the journey of the homeless, most are affected by some form of unresolved trauma response, the escapism through drugs, and the mental decline of our people. If you can offer even just a smile to acknowledge the hardships of the homeless, they are still out people and the truth is that, homelessness
can happen to anyone! But everyone has at least a smile to give someone, it's important to know that people are still treated with some form of dignity.😊
Make your smile known to the homeless of our town, it might just change someone's life!
Thank you 🫶❤️🫶
