17 & 24 May 2026 Kerikeri Cadet Unit and 25 Sqn had a combined total of 19 cadets on shoots with some of them working towards their marksman badges with a score of 60 on two separate shoots required.

Others worked on their confidence with firing the fi****ms in a controlled setting after passing their dftts. It was amazing to see the courage the cadets displayed with shooting, the comradeship of the cadets when they did well and assisting them with things to try when they didn't and the commitment made by all of the cadets.

Thanks to our RCOs for the weekend, MAJ Wakeford and FLTLT Joyce . Also to the additional staff.

Kerikeri cadet unit attended the dawn service at Kerikeri Domain, breakfast with the RSA at the Homestead then visited the Kerikeri Retirement Village, all before heading back to the Kerikeri Domain for the civic service.

Visiting the residents at the Kerikeri Retirement Village is something dear to our hearts. Many of the cadets ask when we can do this as they enjoy hearing the story’s and spending time there.

Busy weekend with the cadets with 3 poppy collections as at Saturday evening and the colour run. We have one more
Collection to go on Sunday at the Kerikeri Farmers Market.

~ Great day at Paihia colour run. Thank you to Bay of Islands Rotary Club for giving us the opportunity to come along and help out. We had a great time getting colourful and seeing lots of enjoyment on the faces of the participants.

Another thank you to the cadets and officers that gave up their time this weekend.

Hi all
CPL Jayde Wakeford from Kerikeri Cadet Unit has been selected for the international cadet exchange this year going to the UK, France and Belgium in July (one of only 10 cadets nationwide selected).

We are holding a movie premiere of a well-themed movie called SGT Haane which is based on a true story of a Maori Battalion solider in WWII. The movie premiere will be on Thursday 23 April. If you would like to join us please click the link below for tickets, only $35 each which includes the change at door prizes as well as canapes served on arrival (doors open at 6.30pm).

We would like to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas. We hope this season brings you joy, whether you are spending it with family, loved ones, friends, or enjoying some well-earned peace and quiet on your own.

Thank you for being part of our cadet whānau. We are truly grateful for the commitment, support and pride you bring to our unit.

We look forward to seeing you all next year, when the training, challenges and adventures continue.
