We asked, they answered! Our Election Scorecard is here 🐾

With the election drawing closer, we know that many animal lovers will be wondering where the different political parties stand on key animal welfare issues. So we asked the parties themselves!

SPCA does not promote or oppose any political parties, or tell people how to vote; our role is to raise awareness of these important topics, and provide evidence-based information to help voters make informed decisions.

Have more questions? Head to our website for more details. And remember: enrol to vote by 25 October! Read more here: https://www.spca.nz/advocacy/details/election-2026

Can you give 2 hours of your time for the animals? 🐶🐱

We need volunteer street collectors for our Fill the Bucket street appeal, which is taking place on 30 and 31 October in Kerikeri and all around the country!

What's involved:
👉 Just 2 hours of your time (or more if you like) on either Friday 30 or Saturday 31 October
👉 Working in pairs at a collection site in your area, collecting donations from the public
👉 You'll be provided with the collection bucket, bibs, and stickers.
👉 You're welcome to bring your dog with you! Just remember to bring their water bowl and bags.

Every cent donated from our Fill the Bucket street appeal goes back to the thousands of animals that we help each year. This is a critical fundraiser, and we couldn't do it without our collection volunteers!

Please share this far and wide across your local community groups, and sign up here: https://spcanz.cervistech.com/acts/webreg/eventwebreglist.php?org_id=0431&event_category_id=73

🌧️ From stormy seas to sunny days! ☀️

Two months ago today, our special ginger boy Nemo sailed off to his forever home! 🧡

Nemo arrived at SPCA quite sick after being out in a storm, so seeing this gorgeous boy now, happy, healthy and living his best life, absolutely melts our hearts.

Happy , Nemo! 🥰 We couldn’t be happier for you! 🧡

🕺💃 ONE YEAR AGO TODAY … 💃🕺

We published our very first staff dance video! 😳

What started out as “this could be fun” somehow turned into a full-blown commitment to questionable choreography, terrible dance skills and absolutely no shame or budget 🤣

But behind all the dancing, pranks, silliness and staff embarrassment is one very serious goal — helping our animals find homes 🏡

Every video we create is a chance to introduce you to the incredible animals in our care, show off their personalities and hopefully catch the eye of the person who just might be their forever human.

So here’s a Thursday throwback…..

And after you’ve watched it - please visit our website, meet our adoptable animals and keep sharing their profiles and our videos. You never know who might be watching your shared post and thinking, “Yep. That’s my next dog/cat.” ❤️🐾

Thanks for watching!

🐾💗 EVIE AND ESME — TWO SWEET SISTERS LOOKING FOR THEIR FOREVER HOMES! 💗🐾

Evie and Esme are adorable five-month-old sisters who are currently enjoying life in a loving foster home with children.

These beautiful girls are growing into happy, affectionate pups and soaking up all the love, care and attention that foster life brings. They’re learning what it means to be part of a family—and they’re loving every minute of it!

We honestly can’t understand why they haven’t been adopted yet. 🥹

With their sweet personalities, young age and wonderful start in foster care, they have so much love to give.

Could Evie or Esme be the missing piece in your family? 💕🐶

Please get in touch to find out more about either of these precious girls and give one of them the forever home she deserves.

And please share this post to help Evie and Esme find their families! 🐾💗
