TE MATA O ROIROI
Tāne & Rangatahi Wānanga-a very special weekend workshop ( 5-7 June) in the beautiful Hokianga at Marae Whirinaki .

Investing in our people. Inspiring our future. A kaupapa dedicated to empower tāne (men)and rangatahi ( youth) through culture, connection, leadership, wellbeing and whanaungatanga.

We are proud to support our special friend Emma Davis who built this kaupapa in honour of her dear brother who struggled with life and ultimately left this earth, leaving her grieving but determined to take action for all young men.

This is an opportunity for Dads, uncles, mentors and Koro with your young men to find connection, strength and meaning.
Invest in yourselves.

Emma’s strength, courage, and aroha will change lives. Do you want to be the change in your whānau? Take the challenge. Pick up the wero. ( 🖤sponsored by Te Hiku Hauora-supported by Bald Angels)

These Knitters know how to share the love. They share over 30,000 hrs annually!
And we wanted to give some love back, so we made afternoon tea for the Busy Bees, Kerikeri knitting Angels and had a wee chat.
So much gorgeousness making whānau smile and keeping pēpē ( babies) warm.

🙌🏽Shout Out: thanks to EcoJunk for protecting our environment and supporting our community. They’ve helped us support several whānau in the last month by repurposing loads of household stuff. 👌🏽AWESOME!

BIG NEWS. EcoJunk is now an official supplier to BaldAngels and we couldn't be more proud.

Every job we do, we sort the good stuff - clothing, furniture, beds, bedding, kitchen gear and it goes directly to Northland families who need it most.

Your declutter = someone's fresh start.

If you've been putting off a cleanout, now's the time to make it count.

Maybe Andrew doesn’t smile for photos…. ?…..but he did smile-when he gave us the complimentary ferry ride again( “for the charity, “ he said) .

We met old and new friends on the Hokianga ferry every time we crossed. 🤍

What difference do you make? Well, here’s a taster …. some of the referrals we’ve responded to in the last week:
💗Kai, clothing, bedding and hygiene stuff will help a brave young māmā who has removed herself from a domestic violence situation. Charm from Te Rūnanga ō Ngāti Rehia popped in with her tamariki to pick it all up and we know her team will guide this wee whānau.

💗A Kaikohe house fire left a whānau needing so much support and manaakitanga (care)and with some great donations we were able to provide bedding, clothing and furniture delivered via Gina at Ngāpuhi Social Services.

💗Angela has been in and out picking up all sorts of warm clothing and bedding to help out whānau registered with Te Hau Ora ō Ngāpuhi.

💗A wee one in a ‘safe house’ with mum needed clothing and bedding. Our friends at Te Hau Ora ō Ngāpuhi have been wrapping some care around them.

💗Whānau living without electricity needed to replace bedding that had black mould, and fresh clothing for their tamariki. A Kai Box helped get them through the week and allow them to breathe easy for the first time in a while. Lovely Marama from Ngāti Rehia team are supporting them to get sorted.

💗A wonderful teacher from a rural kura ( school) noticed tamariki missing out on kai and basic needs. Being brought up by their grandfather as both parents are indisposed, she was desperate to get them some manaaki ( care). Books, games, clothing, PJs, kai and hygiene stuff will help a little.

💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗 And keeping the heart pumping - our amazing volunteers along with YOU who donate and support us.
Only TOGETHER can we make a difference.

Jiffies and gardenias, happy tamariki and sunshine….
Felt like paradise. ‘ Straight up’. (As my old mate from Pawarenga says when it’s true. )

After dirt roads, wandering pigs and cows, spectacular scenery and directions from the cheery farm fellas, arriving to a cuppa and sammie, hugs and warmth was just perfect!

Ngā mihi nui to Maraea and the Pawarenga whānau .

(Any one else from the 60s call those toasted sandwiches Jiffies? We did. )

Ka kite ano.
