Something colourful is taking shape at our Kerikeri Hospice Shop! 🎨

If you’ve been past over the last few days, you may have spotted local artist Erika Pearce at work. Hospice has commissioned Erika to create a mural for our shop and the wider community, and she’s generously doing the work at a special rate for us. Thank you, Erika. We’re loving watching it come together!

A huge thank you also to the team at Hirecorp Kerikeri , who have provided a scissor lift free of charge so Erika can reach the upper parts of the building. We really appreciate you getting behind this project.

We’re keeping the full picture under wraps for now, but we can’t wait to show you the finished mural. Stay tuned! 💙

💛 Two new hospital beds supporting care at home

We are incredibly grateful to the Kaikohe-Hokianga Community Board for a $6,000 grant that has enabled Hospice Mid-Northland to purchase two much-needed hospital beds.

At any one time, more than 100 patients are being cared for by Hospice Mid-Northland across our region. Having the right equipment available helps provide comfort, dignity and safety, while allowing patients to remain at home with their whānau for longer.

These new beds will help replace ageing equipment and strengthen the practical support available to patients and families when they need it most.

A heartfelt thank you to the Kaikohe-Hokianga Community Board for supporting compassionate hospice care in our community. 💛

Your Will is first and foremost about caring for the people and wishes that matter most to you.

For some people, it is also an opportunity to leave a gift to a cause they care about. A gift to Hospice Mid-Northland, large or small, can help ensure local patients and whānau continue receiving free specialist palliative care in the future.

But it is always your choice. There is no expectation or obligation to include a gift to Hospice when using EveryWill.

This Wills Month, the most important step is simply getting your Will sorted.

This week we’ve been celebrating te reo Māori and the important place it holds in our communities, our workplaces and across Aotearoa.

At Hospice Mid-Northland, we’re continuing to learn, listen and grow in the way we use and honour te reo Māori.

Māori Language Week may be coming to an end, but the learning doesn’t have to.

Got quality furniture looking for a new home? 💚

Our Hospice shops are always keen to receive good-quality furniture that can be given a second life and help support local Hospice care.

If you have clean, saleable furniture you no longer need, we’d love to hear from you.

We’re especially interested in items such as dining tables and chairs, lounge suites and armchairs, drawers, cabinets, shelving, bedside tables and other quality household furniture.

And the best part - we can collect suitable items free of charge.

Every item donated to Hospice Mid-Northland helps generate income that stays here in our community, supporting local people and whānau.

💜 Today we’re celebrating our amazing Social Work team at Hospice Mid-Northland.

Monica, Rachel and Jane provide awhi and support to our patients, whānau, nursing team and wider community, helping people navigate some of life’s most difficult challenges, including grief and loss.

Their compassion, knowledge and support are such an important part of the care Hospice provides across Te Tai Tokerau.

As they shared with us today:

Through working together, the tasks are accomplished.
