In August 2022, the "Rotary Club of Waikanae" closed, primarily due to falling membership.
Those who wanted to continue, became part of "Waikanae Rotary", a chapter of the Rotary Club of Mana Tangata.
Rotary District 9940 created The Rotary Club of Mana Tangata as an "umbrella club" for other clubs, who like us, were experiencing falling membership and wouldn't have met the requirements to continue as a club, under the new Incorporated Societies Act.
Unfortunately, everything has a season, and the members of Waikanae Rotary have decided to wind up the Chapter, effective from 30 June 2025.
We've agreed with Mana Tangata, through a formal Memorandum of Understanding, that we can continue to distribute our funds to the activities we've been supporting over the years.
The Trustees - Richard Campbell, Steve Botica, Robert Nugent, Peter Gibbs and David Bruce will have oversight of that expenditure until all the funds are exhausted.
We've really appreciated support over the years from members/partners of Waikanae Rotary, or past members/partners of the original club, or those who have just been willing to help with projects we run.
