Today we celebrate the amazing Rahui Tautape Samson. Tautape is a proud Cook Islander, educator, performer, and passionate advocate for Pacific culture. Through his work in education, performing arts, and community leadership, Tautape has dedicated himself to uplifting and celebrating Polynesian identity while inspiring future generations to embrace their heritage with pride.
Known for his infectious energy, generosity, and unwavering commitment to culture, Tautape has become a respected figure both within Aotearoa and across the Pacific. Whether mentoring young people, performing on stage, or representing Cook Islands culture at major events, he leads with authenticity, heart, and a deep love for his people.
A proud member of our rainbow community, Tautape continues to show that visibility, culture, and identity can walk hand in hand. His journey reminds us that living openly and authentically creates space for others to do the same. 🇨🇰✨🏳️‍🌈

We want to hear from you about the guiding principles that will inform our amalgamation discussions, as part of the Government-directed local government reform. This survey is open until Wednesday 24 June.

🌄 Draft principles were produced by Elected Members at a recent workshop, and now it’s time to hear from the District.

Here are the key dates you need to know:
1️⃣ Community Survey | Mon 15 - Wed 24 June
2️⃣ Council Meeting | Thu 25 June - Principals will be locked in and key options to be discussed
3️⃣ July Hui - Community Engagement Sessions | Tues 7, Wed 8, Mon 13, Tue 14 (DATE EDIT* Was previously Tue 14, Wed 15)
4️⃣ Council Meeting | Thu 30 July - Options for Head Start submission to be finalised
5️⃣ Head Start Pathway - Final Deadline | Sun 9 August

Keep an eye out for more info about the July Hui to come! We'll be stopping in at Putāruru, Tīrau, Tokoroa and online via Zoom.
