River Iwi — Ngāti Tūwharetoa, Waikato, Maniapoto, Raukawa, and Te Arawa River Iwi — have welcomed the Environment Court's final decision on Plan Change 1 (PC1).

The decision marks an important milestone in the ongoing restoration and protection of the Waikato and Waipā Rivers and gives practical effect to Te Ture Whaimana o Te Awa o Waikato, the Vision and Strategy for the Waikato River.

This has been a long journey involving iwi, communities, industry, environmental groups, and local government, all working towards a healthier future for our awa.
