A warm welcome to Isaac Boss, who joins the SWIFT board as our newest trustee. 🙌

Isaac brings a lived connection to our district, a fresh perspective, and a genuine commitment to South Waikato, exactly the kind of voice we value as we continue building on the legacy of this fund.

Isaac joins chairperson James Whetu (Raukawa, Waikato, Ngāti Tūwharetoa) and the wider board, steering the ongoing investment of more than $15.5m flowing back into South Waikato. From scholarships and driver licences to employment pathways, local business growth, and community infrastructure that makes South Waikato a great place to live and work.

As our CE Clive Somerville says, “this fund is a legacy, built by and for the community.” Isaac, we’re really happy to have you on board helping us grow that impact for future generations. 💛

Sometimes a great measure of a thriving community is a busy carpark at an education hub at 6.30pm. 🚗✨

As the day winds down, Pūkenga Rau is still buzzing with learning, connection, and opportunity.

Tonight alone, four different kaupapa are taking place, with tauira from Toi Ohomai and Te Wānanga o Aotearoa, alongside a SWIFT-supported capability workshop, all making the most of this shared space.

There's plenty of kōrero right now about what local government will look like after reform, and naturally, real concerns. For districts like ours, it's about how our communities continue to be heard and supported.

South Waikato is a boundary on a map, and that matters. It's written into SWIFT's trust deed and grounds what we do. But South Waikato is also so much more. We have a rich history as one of New Zealand’s most important industrial hubs, and a future being shaped by the passionate people who live and work here.

Whatever comes next, we know one thing will not change: SWIFT will always be proudly South Waikato, advocating for, distributing to, and supporting our people, places and businesses.

Over the past year, SWIFT has supported over 50 local organisations, backing initiatives that create connection, wellbeing, and opportunity across our district.

From sports to local gardens, we've seen how supporting local groups creates ripple effects, strengthening wellbeing, belonging, and connection across our communities.

One topic that comes up time and time again is how to level up on social media. How to keep up with the ever-changing environment. The team from Daisy Digital, who are based in Matamata are heading down the road to South Waikato to help with just that.
