We had a great day yesterday meeting so many kids who had a play with our robots, hydraulic machines, and spin art machines at YouthFest. So inspiring to see an event truly run by and for our Tauranga youth, who also provided great entertainment with some truly talented bands!

Kudos to the team at Youth Voices Action - YVA for such an awesome, fun event.

This week we started a block of robotics lessons with Te Wharekura o Mauao in Bethlehem.
With their assistance we were able to pull together some kits for older rangatahi, which their students will have sole use of until the beginning of August. The first 1.75 hr session was aimed at becoming familiar with the equipment and how it all fits together to create whatever they can imagine. Next week we move onto learning about gear ratios, and then onto motion.
It was awesome to see the 100% engagement from the students and kaiako and we are excited to be back there each week!

It's a pleasure to be doing our robotics workshops with Te Kura O Te Moutere O Matakana this term! To get to us they need to catch the barge over from Matakana Island around 7:30am then drive in from Omokoroa, so it is awesome that the kura is prepared to do this to give their rangatahi the opportunity to learn about robot building, driving and programming, preparing them for the future in a rapidly evolving world.
They were one of the very first schools we piloted our In-School Robotics project with back in 2022, and the level of enthusiasm and engagement from students now is as great as it was back then.

Over the last 3 years we have completed the 8 week x 1hr per week robotics workshops free of charge with approximately 2000 students as we strive to be inclusive, embrace diversity and reach out to all members of the community to promote equal learning opportunities for all!
We couldn't have done this without the much appreciated funding from Tauranga City Council, Bay Trust and NZ Lotteries.

It's the next best thing to Christmas for our senior robotics team as they start building the game elements for the new VEX V5 game 'Override'!

Thanks to Beca ( ) for sponsoring the game elements and also to Kiwibots for distributing them so soon after the game was released!
If you want to see what the game involves go to this link https://youtu.be/68N

The juniors using VEX IQ are also excited about their new game, and although they need to wait a little longer to receive the new game elements, they have already started building their robots!

We really enjoyed having a group of enthusiastic young ladies join us for our Girl Power STEAM session last week! They used their imagination and creativity to make their choice of wearables which incorporated electric circuits with LED lights!

It is our plan to have these sessions just for the girls each term to encourage more girls into STEAM education and future careers.
