⛵ Thursday Sailing Update ⛵️

Kia ora everyone,
It looks like the weather is playing ball and we will be going ahead with tomorrow's sessions. If you sail on Thursdays, you should have received an email about wearing appropriate cold weather gear for sailing. Just to clarify, this means warm, layered clothing such as:

👕Thermal or long-sleeve base layers
🧥Fleece or warm mid-layers
🧥Waterproof/windproof jackets
🧤Warm hats and gloves if needed.

Staying warm and dry will make your time on the water much more enjoyable 😊

If you’re unable to make it, please let us know as soon as possible. We look forward to seeing everyone tomorrow.

Congrats to Sailability Tauranga's 'Sailing Royalty' Paulien Chamberlain for racing in the Scud 18 Regatta in Auckland last weekend. Thanks for being part of the push to get Para Sailing reinstated into the Para Olympics. Read the article for a glowing accolade for Paulien and her sailing partner.

Sailing Royalty: When Two Captains Become One Crew!
Talk about a power move! The Burnsco 2026 SKUD 18 International Match Race Challenge saw a truly legendary pairing this week: Paulien Chamberlain and Sally Garrett.

Both women are renowned "Captains of their own ships," used to calling the shots and leading their own teams to victory. You might expect a bit of a "too many cooks" situation when you put two elite skippers on one SKUD 18, but Paulien and Sally proved exactly why they are at the top of their game. ⛵️✨

Despite both being used to having the final say, they sailed surprisingly well together, blending their tactical brilliance and years of experience into one formidable force. It was a masterclass in communication, elite skill, and mutual respect.

When royalty joins forces, the rest of the fleet definitely takes notice!
