Who we are
The Tauranga Probasi Cultural Heritage Incorporated (TPCH) is a membership-based non-profit cultural organization of the Indian community specifically focusing on the Bengalis residing in the wider Tauranga region. Our goal is to preserve and showcase the vibrant Indian cultural heritage and pass on to the next generations growing up in Aotearoa, emphasizing Bengali festivals, literatur
e, arts and culture. At TPCH, we cultivate a culture that values integrity, transparency, inclusivity, respect, and diversity. By becoming part of our association, you have the opportunity to actively participate in celebrating Bengali and Indian cultural events while developing a deeper understanding and appreciation for our collective heritage. Purposes
The primary purposes of the Society are to:
• Build a community ethos to amplify the cultural, artistic, and social involvement of Probasi (diaspora) members and communities in Tauranga by facilitating diverse activities that celebrate our abundant cultural legacy.
• Coordinate cultural gatherings encompassing a wide range of expressive arts, including but not limited to Bengali and other Indian traditional and contemporary music, theatre, and dance performances.
• Promote good relations between persons of different ethnic groups and strive towards greater ethnocultural tolerance and be a catalyst to flourish multi-ethnic communities in Tauranga and surrounding areas.
• Support and improve cultural activities within the community and involving other local based societies in Tauranga. Mission
