Hug A Hero Aotearoa Community event | Fundraiser | Men's mental health & su***de prevention Hug A Hero is about a few simple objectives:

Hug A Hero is an initiative that a group of Tauranga Airport Rescue Firefighters started in November 2020 as a result of one of our own's battle with mental health. Supporting men through their mental health journeys.
2. Men reaching out to other men through open discussion (it’s ok to not be ok).
3. Men supporting men in opening up communication surrounding historical barriers men have faced ta

lking about mental health. Simply put, Hug A Hero is any man in YOUR life that YOU consider YOUR hero. Whether they be your father, brother, son, grandfather, neighbour, teacher…. Hug A Hero could relate to someone you know who has saved your life or the life of a loved one, like a firefighter, a police officer, a paramedic, the rescue helicopter crew, coast guard crew, surf lifesaving. They may be a return serviceman, your workmate or co-worker, even your boss. A hero could simply be someone that just needs to know they are appreciated.
