Tonight at training was a night to celebrate some new ranks!
Late last year Glenn completed his QFF course but he is a bit camera shy and has been hiding from my camera ever since but I caught him tonight! 😂
Fire Fighter Gabriel Jacobs received his new yellow helmet tonight 💪

Last weekend we had 2 of our Recruits go away on courses 😁

Introducing our newest Firefighters to the crew! Firefighter Ashleigh Boness-Harding and Firefighter Rebecca Adler 👏👏💪💪

Both ladies have been away to the National Training Centre for their 7 day Recruit Course last week and passed with flying colours! Tonight they were presented with their yellow helmets tonight by CFO Piri Harwood and will now be able to perform complete Firefighter duties at call outs.

We are grateful for the time, effort and commitment they have put in and will continue to put in to help our community.

We have one more recruit to go away on his course next month, and we are always on the look out for new recruits to join our team so if this is something you might be interested in please joining flick us a message or come along to training on a Wednesday at 7.30pm and have a chat.

Hey whanau just a little reminder for this upcoming storm. There has been heaps of advice out there in the media so hopefully everyone is fully prepared for anything that may happen. We are here to help if needed but please follow the advice given and stay home and inside if possible.

📞When life or safety is threatened, people should call 111 immediately.

🚗 Do not drive through floodwaters, you are putting yourself at risk and risking the lives of those who come to your rescue. Floodwater can be deceptive, you can’t tell how deep or fast moving the water is. There can also be hidden obstacles.

🌀 At home, tie or take down trampolines, store outdoor furniture and bins and remove any loose items.

⚡Prepare for power outages. We recommend using torches and battery powered devices wherever possible to reduce the risk of unwanted fire.

For the latest weather warnings follow MetService New Zealand and follow NZ Civil Defence and your local Civil Defence page for emergency warnings and advice.

At our last training for 2025 we took some brigade photos (something we need to do more regularly lol) and this slack admin has only just gotten around to looking at them 😬😂
bbbbuuuuutttttt I have and I just wanted to acknowledge these four amazing people as Manunui Brigade's longest serving current members with a combined time of over 134 years!! 👏🤝
We hope to squeeze a few more years out of them yet so if you see them around give them a high 5 and give thanks for their commitment 😁

Last night we had the 2025 Manunui Volunteer Fire Brigade Honours Night. We had a wonderful turnout in our engine bay that didn't look like the engine bay anymore!

Last night the following awards were presented:

5 Year Medal - FF Glenn Scheyvens
2 Year Silver Bar - QFF Jana Reynolds for 13 Years Service
2 Year Silver Bar - QFF Mel Vedder for 17 Years Service
2 Year Gold Bar - SO Sue Burton for 29 Years Service
2 Year Gold Bar - QFF Dave Allen for 31 Years Service
2 Year Gold Bar - SFF Chris Capper for 37 Years Service
2 Year Gold Bar - DCFO Kevin Shaw for 37 Years Service
Long Service/Good Conduct Medal - QFF Mel Vedder
Long Service/Good Conduct Medal - QFF Derek Hardisty
Long Service/Good Conduct 3rd Clasp - SFF Chris Capper
Thank you Manunui Fire Brigade for your continued commitment to the community.

We also said farewell to QFF Derek Hardisty as he has made the tough decision to resign from the brigade as work and family commitments keep him super busy. Thank you Derek, for all of the time, work and training you have put into the brigade, we appreciate everything you have done and wish you the best for the future! Maybe we will see you back in the brigade one day 😁
