๐ŸŒŸ Supported Employment Client of the Week โ€“ Joel Lehrke ๐ŸŒŸ

This week we are proud to shine the spotlight on Joel Lehrke, a valued member of our Packing Team who has been part of the Atawhai whฤnau for the past three years.

Joel works alongside one of our wonderful Atawhai Angels, Egmont Seeds, where he enjoys packing seeds and takes pride in contributing to the important work completed for their business. Through partnerships like this, Joel and many others are able to develop skills, gain confidence, and experience the rewards that come from meaningful employment.

One of Joelโ€™s proudest achievements has been gaining his driverโ€™s licence and enjoying the independence that comes with being able to get out and about on his own. He is currently focused on learning more housework skills and continuing to build his independence at home and in the community.

Outside of work, Joel enjoys taking drives to the beach, heading away on holidays whenever he gets the chance, and listening to his favourite rock bands including Linkin Park, Metallica, and Nickelback. When it comes to food, you canโ€™t go past butter chicken, KFC, and chicken wraps!

When asked what being part of the Atawhai whฤnau means to him, Joelโ€™s answer reflected the responsibility and pride he takes in his role:

โ€œIโ€™m responsible for my work.โ€

Joel is a reliable, hardworking, and valued member of our team, and we are proud to celebrate his achievements and the positive contribution he makes every day.

A huge thank you to Egmont Seeds for your continued support. Your partnership helps create meaningful employment opportunities that build confidence, independence, and a genuine sense of purpose for the people we support.

๐Ÿ’™ Well done, Joel! We are proud to have you as part of the Atawhai whฤnau. ๐Ÿ’™

What an awesome morning out at Croquet today! โ˜€๏ธ The sun was shining, the smiles were out, and everyone's game was fantastic.

Our players are really getting the hang of the game now, using strategy to their advantage and working brilliantly together in pairs. It was great to see everyone's confidence and skills continuing to grow.

A huge congratulations to Matthew, who took home the Lucky Ducky Trophy after an epic shot that hit the trophy and just pipped Nigel at the post! ๐Ÿฆ†๐Ÿ†

Well done also to Stephen, who came out on top in today's Points Master playoff after some great play throughout the morning. ๐Ÿ‘

A fantastic effort from everyone involved โ€“ we can't wait for the next week!

Supported Employment Client Profile โ€“ Dayna Scott

Today we are proud to introduce Dayna Scott, a valued member of our Supported Employment Packing Team.

Dayna works in the Packing and Boxing Up area, where she enjoys the hands-on task of boxing products and being part of a busy, productive team. She brings a cheerful attitude to her work and says one of the things she is most proud of is โ€œalways being happy.โ€ That positive energy is something those around her really appreciate.

Dayna is currently working on building her confidence and independence by letting the team leaders know when she needs to step away for a short time out. This is a great example of developing workplace communication skills and taking responsibility for her own wellbeing.

Outside of work, Dayna enjoys browsing online, playing games, and watching YouTube on her computer. Her favourite treat is creamy cheese pasta, and she loves listening to Katy Perry. Dayna also has a passion for cruise liners โ€” she has already been on two cruises and would love to visit Italy one day.

When asked what being part of the Atawhai whฤnau means to her, Dayna shared:

โ€œI enjoy the responsibility.โ€

A big thank you to Egmont Seeds, one of our very special Atawhai Angels. Your ongoing support helps create meaningful and purposeful work opportunities for people in our Supported Employment Programme. The difference you make goes far beyond the work itself โ€” you help build confidence, encourage independence, and create a genuine sense of belonging and purpose.

We are truly grateful for your continued support and the positive impact you have in the lives of our people. ๐ŸŒฑโœจ

๐ŸŒณ๐ŸŽ‰ Celebrating Success in Arboriculture! ๐ŸŽ‰๐ŸŒณ

We are proud to celebrate the achievements of three of our team members who have successfully completed their Industry Training Organisation (ITO) qualifications in arboriculture & Horticulture.

๐Ÿ‘ Logan Brandish โ€“ ITO Level 2 Horticulture
๐Ÿ‘ Jayden Green โ€“ ITO Level 3 Arboriculture
๐Ÿ‘ Isaiah Watene โ€“ ITO Level 3 Arboriculture

These qualifications represent much more than certificates. They reflect countless hours of learning, practical experience, determination, and commitment to personal and professional growth.

Over the past 18 months, Logan, Jayden, and Isaiah have demonstrated outstanding resilience, perseverance, and dedication while balancing training, work responsibilities, and the challenges that come with developing new skills in the industry.

Your achievements are a testament to the effort you have invested and the high standards you bring to your work every day. You should all be incredibly proud of what you have accomplished.

We would also like to take this opportunity to thank the ongoing support from Dom Steenstra and Charlie Peterson from ITO who have gone above and beyond.

On behalf of our staff, Board, whฤnau, and wider community, congratulations on reaching this significant milestone. We look forward to seeing where your skills, knowledge, and passion for arboriculture and Horticulture take you next.

๐ŸŒฟ Well done Logan, Jayden, and Isaiah. Your hard work and dedication has paid off! ๐ŸŒฟ

๐ŸŒŸ Supported Employment Client Profile โ€“ Xanthe Irving ๐ŸŒŸ

This month we are proud to introduce Xanthe Irving, who is part of our Supported Employment team here at Atawhai.

Xanthe works in the Packing Room, supporting work for our valued Atawhai Angels, including Egmont Seeds, Pioneer, and Metro Fires. She has been part of the Atawhai whฤnau for three years and brings a fantastic attitude, strong work ethic, and a real sense of pride to everything she does.

When asked what she enjoys most about her work, Xanthe said she enjoys seeing โ€œthe hard work thatโ€™s achieved.โ€ She is proud of doing the best work she can each day and is currently learning how to fold Metro fire kits correctly, an important task that takes focus, care, and attention to detail.

Outside of work, Xanthe loves going for walks, enjoys listening to K-Pop, and says her favourite food is medium-rare steak!

A fun fact about Xanthe is that she is the youngest twin. Her sister is Maya, and no they are not identical!

For Xanthe, being part of the Atawhai whฤnau means being surrounded by people who are focused on good work and having a good time. This perfectly reflects the positive energy she brings to the team.

A heartfelt thank you to Egmont Seeds, Pioneer, and Metro Fires, three of our very special Atawhai Angels. Your ongoing support helps create meaningful and purposeful work opportunities for people in our Supported Employment Programme. The difference you make goes far beyond the work itself, you help build confidence, encourage independence, and create a genuine sense of belonging and purpose.

We are truly grateful for your continued support and the positive impact you have on the lives of our people.

Well done, Xanthe we are proud to have you as part of the Atawhai whฤnau. ๐Ÿ’š

๐ŸŽต Calling on Our Community for a Little Help ๐ŸŽต

Atawhai Trust is hoping to start a small music group for the people we support, creating opportunities for creativity, confidence, social connection, learning, and joy through music.

We are reaching out humbly to our wonderful community to see if anyone may have any unused or unwanted musical instruments tucked away at home that they would be willing to donate to a very good cause. โค๏ธ

We are especially looking for items such as:
๐Ÿฅ Cymbals
๐Ÿ”บ Triangles
๐ŸŽธ Ukuleles
๐ŸŽธ Small guitars
๐Ÿช˜ Simple percussion instruments
๐ŸŽน Keyboards or beginner music equipment

Instruments that are no longer being used could make a huge difference in someoneโ€™s life and help bring music, laughter, and purpose to our Atawhai whฤnau.

Your kindness and generosity would help create meaningful experiences and opportunities for people of all abilities to explore music, build confidence, and simply have fun together.

If you are able to help, please send us a message or contact Atawhai Trust directly.

From all of us at Atawhai, thank you for continuing to support our people, our programmes, and our community. โค๏ธ

โ€œHe iti noa ana tฤkoha, he nui kฤ“ atu tลna hua.โ€
Although the gift may be small, the impact can be great.

๐ŸŒŸ Celebrating Success Within Our Atawhai Whฤnau ๐ŸŒŸ

We are incredibly proud to celebrate the outstanding achievements of two very special members of our Atawhai whฤnau at the recent TET Athletics Taranaki Awards held in Inglewood.

๐Ÿ† Congratulations to Nigel Cash for winning the Athletics Taranaki Coach of the Year Award.

๐ŸŒŸ Congratulations also to Michelle Stokes for receiving the Athletics Taranaki Para Rising Star / Most Promising Athlete of the Year Award.

What makes this achievement even more special is that this is a true coach-and-athlete success story, with Michelle being coached and mentored by Nigel. Their dedication, commitment, perseverance, and teamwork continue to inspire those around them.

These awards are a reflection of countless hours of hard work, encouragement, resilience, and passion for athletics. We are honoured to celebrate this journey and the positive impact they both have within our community.

Please join us in congratulating them both on these very well-deserved achievements! ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ’™

๐Ÿง Muffin success today at Atawhai! ๐Ÿง

After many attempts, different tricks, and plenty of trial and errorโ€ฆ we finally made chocolate chip muffins that DIDNโ€™T stick to the bottom of the trays! ๐ŸŽ‰๐Ÿ‘

Everyone had a great time baking together, measuring ingredients, mixing, and of course taste testing the finished product. The smiles and excitement when the muffins came out perfectly made all the effort worth it!

Activities like baking are such a great way to build confidence, teamwork, independence, and celebrate success together, especially when we finally crack the recipe! ๐Ÿ˜Š
