๐ Supported Employment Client of the Week โ Joel Lehrke ๐
This week we are proud to shine the spotlight on Joel Lehrke, a valued member of our Packing Team who has been part of the Atawhai whฤnau for the past three years.
Joel works alongside one of our wonderful Atawhai Angels, Egmont Seeds, where he enjoys packing seeds and takes pride in contributing to the important work completed for their business. Through partnerships like this, Joel and many others are able to develop skills, gain confidence, and experience the rewards that come from meaningful employment.
One of Joelโs proudest achievements has been gaining his driverโs licence and enjoying the independence that comes with being able to get out and about on his own. He is currently focused on learning more housework skills and continuing to build his independence at home and in the community.
Outside of work, Joel enjoys taking drives to the beach, heading away on holidays whenever he gets the chance, and listening to his favourite rock bands including Linkin Park, Metallica, and Nickelback. When it comes to food, you canโt go past butter chicken, KFC, and chicken wraps!
When asked what being part of the Atawhai whฤnau means to him, Joelโs answer reflected the responsibility and pride he takes in his role:
