"It’s so big the two-day event has been extended to six days, from Monday, September 14 to Friday, September 18, with a community day on Sunday, September 20.
“Personally I am overwhelmed, I am humbled,” Judd said. “There’s been such a vast array of support and so much from schools that I am seriously considering upping the ante and inviting every school in the region next year.”
Judd, CEO of the Sustainable Coastlines environmental charity, said the event was now sponsored and called the Hirepool Big Clean, with 480 people confirmed to join the clean-up so far." (...)
"Sustainable Taranaki will be putting on waste diversion and composting workshops and students will be challenged to provide ideas of how their school communities can innovate to reduce plastic pollution getting into the ocean." (...)
"Despite the hundreds involved, Judd said there was still plenty of room for more, and volunteers could register on their website for the weekday events or the Sunday community event, which also featured a community barbecue and performances from Taranaki-based members of the Black Seeds, Barnaby Weir and Matt Benton."
