In her defence, her partner is Argentinian and her daughter shares that heritage too. But with Colombia playing in the World Cup tomorrow, we’re expecting a quick wardrobe change back to yellow, blue and red! 😄⚽

We know the people who attended Volunteer Nelson's Mayor's Morning Tea for Volunteers today represent 1000s upon 1000s more volunteers quietly going about their service to the community. Another Cross-Cultural Awareness and Communication Workshop took place yesterday at Richmond Library. Thank you to Tasman District Council - Te Kaunihera o te tai o Aorere for their generous funding and support, and to our wonderful facilitator, Birte Becker-Steel, for delivering such an engaging and inspiring workshop. We appreciate everyone who joined us and contributed to the discussion.

Last night, the Nelson branch of the New Zealand Chinese Association celebrated the Dragon Boat Festival alongside its AGM at Dragon’s Nest Restaurant on Bridge Street.

The evening featured zongzi-making, tea sampling, live music, and recognition of the many activities, achievements, and volunteers who have contributed throughout 2025–26.

A wonderful celebration of culture, community, and the people who help make it all happen. 🐉🛶🏮

Marie Lindaya represented Multicultural Nelson Tasman at the soft launch of “Mga Tinig Sa Mahabang Puting Ulap: Stories of Filipino Migrants in New Zealand”.

As a member of the Filipino community herself, Marie was pleased to attend and support this event, which showcased the stories and experiences of Filipino migrants across Aotearoa.

Congratulations to the contributors, editors, and organisers on bringing this very important collection together.
