Like many of the animals that come through the SPCA, little Daisy was the victim of unspeakable animal abuse.

Since being taken into care, Daisy has known consistency, stability and love from her SPCA family - but now she is ready to find a home to call her own outside of the shelter...

This sweet little pup will be a match for most home environments, but we want her to find a place where she will never be scared, or hurt, again.

💙 A different kind of Forever Home Friday 💙

Its not everyday the Napier Team have a local celebrity visit, but when Sooty, the "Mayor of Ahuriri" was brought in by a caring member of public, he jumped at the chance to get some free PR in.

Sooty unfortunately declined our requests for an autograph, but was willing to participate in an impromptu photoshoot. He spent some time hearing about all the great work being done in the Animal Welfare Sector, and enjoyed getting up close and personal with his beloved constituents.

His busy agenda didn't allow for a long visit though, and shortly after, he was picked up by his people, and escorted to his next public event before the pup-erazzi showed up. Take care Sooty, you definitely get our vote!🏅🐾

📣Help us, help you.... our Hastings Team are working hard to organize a free Canine Vaccination Event, and we know there will be lots of families needing extra help with dog food that turn up on the day.

You can help! Please consider donating a bag of dry puppy food so our team can pass it on to the animals in our community who need the help most. 🙏 🐾🫶💙

Can you give 2 hours of your time for the animals? 🐶🐱

We need volunteer street collectors for our Fill the Bucket street appeal, which is taking place on 30 and 31 October in Napier and all around the country!

What's involved:
👉 Just 2 hours of your time (or more if you like) on either Friday 30 or Saturday 31 October
👉 Working in pairs at a collection site in your area, collecting donations from the public
👉 You'll be provided with the collection bucket, bibs, and stickers.
👉 You're welcome to bring your dog with you! Just remember to bring their water bowl and bags.

Every cent donated from our Fill the Bucket street appeal goes back to the thousands of animals that we help each year. This is a critical fundraiser, and we couldn't do it without our collection volunteers!

The newest addition to our adult cat room, under his 8kgs of muscle and fluff, is a gentle giant, and Rune is now available for adoption. 💚

We expect that with his size and stunning green eyes he will be very popular, but we will be looking for a quiet home for this handsome boy to support him as he adjusts to life outside the centre. 👑

PARVO AWARENESS – KNOW THE RISKS & PROTECT YOUR PUP

Parvo is something we will continue to see in our community. It isn’t something that simply disappears, which is why it’s so important for dog owners to understand the virus and know how to protect their dogs.

💉 Vaccination is one of the best ways to protect your puppy. Please keep vaccinations up to date and follow your vet’s advice about when your puppy is fully protected.

If your puppy is not vaccinated or not fully vaccinated, take extra care and avoid unnecessary contact with unknown dogs and areas where unvaccinated dogs may have been.

⚠️ Know the signs of Parvo:
• Vomiting
• Severe or ongoing diarrhoea, sometimes with blood
• Not wanting to eat
• Extreme tiredness or weakness
• Dehydration
• Abdominal pain

🚨 If you think your puppy or dog may have Parvo, contact your vet ASAP. Please phone the clinic before taking your dog in so they can advise you on the safest way to bring them in and help protect other patients.

Parvo is highly contagious and can be devastating, especially for young puppies. Understanding the risks, vaccinating your dogs and acting quickly when something doesn’t seem right can make a huge difference. 🐶💙

Taco and Yoda had the best time EVER on their first walk, stretching their little legs and enjoying a beautiful sunny walk together. Their favourite part? Rolling in the grass, with the occasional mouthful🤣
