⚫⚪🟠 Day 2 Complete at the Bob Bamford Tournament 🟠⚪⚫

After narrowly missing out on the 5th/6th place playoff on goal difference following Saturdays group games, Douglas Villa U19s responded in style on Sunday with two excellent wins. The boys defeated Seatoun AFC 3-2 before finishing the tournament with a 5-2 victory over Levin AFC.

With 3 wins and 2 defeats across the weekend, Douglas Villa finished 7th overall in the club's first-ever appearance at the Bob Bamford Tournament, an outstanding achievement for the squad.

The unique tournament format presented significant physical and mental challenges, but the players and coaches will have gained invaluable experience from competing against high-quality opposition over two intense days. Just as importantly, the team will take plenty of confidence from their performances and results throughout the tournament.

A fantastic effort from everyone involved.

The team now returns to the Ivan England next Sunday for their final group-stage match.

⚫⚪🟠 Day 1 Complete at the Bob Bamford 🟠⚪⚫

Douglas Villa Under-19's wrapped up Day 1 with one win and two defeats in challenging cold and wet conditions at Maidstone Park.

The boys got their tournament off to the perfect start with a fantastic 1-0 victory over Upper Hutt City, showing great determination and quality against a strong opponent.

Our second match saw us come up against a polished Wellington Olympic side, with Douglas Villa going down 3-0. The team continued to compete hard before facing Western Suburbs/Ole Academy in their third game of the day, where the effects of three tough matches against quality opposition took their toll, resulting in a 6-0 defeat.

Tournament football brings unique challenges, and the squad will have learned a great deal from the experience of playing multiple games in a single day against high-quality teams. The win over a strong Upper Hutt City side should give the group plenty of confidence heading into the remainder of the tournament and highlights the talent and quality of players coming through our region.

A huge effort from all the boys today. We are back in action on Sunday at 11:00am.
