🏉WOMENS REPS OPEN SKILLS SESSION 🏉

The North Canterbury Womens Rep coaches will be having an open skills training session for all women interested in trialling for the rep team this season.

📆Sunday 21st June
📍Woodend Rugby Club
⏰12.30pm (approx 75 mins)
Please wear club kit/colours.

It will give the coaches an opportunity for players to showcase their skills to the coaches and see players in a different environment with different players.

Open to all players over 18 years, who have played at least 2 games for a North Canterbury club in 2026 (players aged 16-17 can attend, however selection priority if given to over 18 as 16–17-year-olds should be going for Canterbury Under 18 team)

🏉 TIM'S CORNER 🏉

Confused why tables aren't updated after games or why your draw keeps going back to the start of the season?

In order for tables and draws to get updated in RX, we need games to be completed by both team managers. Both managers need to press "END" at the conclusion of the match and confirm the scores and cards for them to be submitted correctly.

If your game has an official CRRA appointed referee, managers should also be meeting with the referee to confirm the score and the cards at the end of the game. This ensures a smooth completion of games and keeps us from wondering who got the W that week!

🏉 Sideline Behaviour Reminder 🏉

As we move through the season, we’d like to remind everyone of their responsibility to help create a positive and enjoyable environment for our players, referees, coaches, and volunteers.

✅ Spectators, please remain behind the sideline ropes at all times. These are in place to provide a safe playing area for participants and match officials.

✅ Respect our referees. Referees are an essential part of our game and deserve the same respect as players and coaches. This is especially important for referees wearing a green jersey, which identifies them as a first-year referee. These young officials are learning and developing their skills, and your encouragement and support can make a huge difference to their confidence and enjoyment of refereeing.

✅ Positive support only. Cheer for the players, celebrate good play, and leave the refereeing decisions to the referee. Abuse, criticism, or questioning of match officials from the sideline is not acceptable.

✅ Coaches must remain in their designated technical zones. Coaches are required to stay within the marked technical areas beside the team benches between halfway and the 10m lines (Clubs, this should be clearly marked either with paint, ropes or cones). Coaches may also stand at the dead ball line at the attacking end but cannot enter the field of play at any point during the game. This helps maintain clear boundaries and allows referees to manage the game effectively.

Our young players learn from the behaviour they see around them. By showing respect, self-control, and sportsmanship on the sidelines, we set the standard for the next generation of rugby participants.

Thank you to all players, coaches, managers, supporters, and volunteers who help make our game a positive experience for everyone.

Head down to Reefton to see our Senior Teenage Boys play some Buller and West Coast teams!

If you happen to be near Reefton on the weekend (as you do), be sure to stop in at the racecourse and cheer on our 2nd XV Boys as we take on the West Coast at the Alps Festival. Big thanks to Tim Manawatu and the team at North Canterbury Rugby for facilitating this tournament for our lads. Looking forward to playing someone other than Amberley 🤣
