Levin Uniting

Levin Uniting Levin Uniting (Church and Community Centre): Your local place for connection, support, and empowerment. Check out whats on offer with our amazing organisations.

Wide range of different size rooms, offices, hall and commercial kitchen for hire. The Levin Uniting Church and Community Hub facilities are located directly adjacent to Levin Adventure Park (87 Oxford Street) and are used by a diverse range of local organisation including our church community. From the outside the existing facilities look like a simple church structure and attached community hall. However, upon entering there are huge range of surprises. These include a full scale (recently upgraded) commercial kitchen, a 230m2 central hall, plus over 290m2 of additional community spaces and 90m2 of toilets and storage. Adding to the surprises is the fact that although the church and community hall facilities are physically connected there is actually no internal access or walkway between the two buildings effectively making them separate buildings for all intents and purposes. The church has a rich history of collaboration and was formed in 2008 when the St Andrew's Presbyterian Church and St John's Methodist joined forces. The existing community hub facilities include:
• Central Hall (230m2)
• Gilmore Lounge (90m2)
• Large Training Room (90m2)
• Small Training Room (30m2)
• Commercial kitchen (30m2)
• Table Tennis Storage (12.5m2)
• Community Office Spaces (25m2+ 45m°)
• Toilets and storage (90m2)
• Church Office Spaces (20m2)

Building Skills Today, Opening Doors Tomorrow!

These guys have been volunteering with Levin Uniting for the past six months, becoming a valued part of our centre.

Today they took another step towards their goals, learning how to put together a CV with support from their CCS Disability Action support workers helping them get ready for employment.

A big thanks to Kim from Skills4Living for running the session at just the right pace and making it a positive and supportive environment where everyone could learn, ask questions and have a go.

💙If you or someone you know is living with a disability and would like to explore what support might be available, we encourage you to get in touch with CCS Disability Action and find out what could work for you.

And if you’re considering becoming a disability support worker what an incredibly rewarding way to make a real difference in someone's life. ❤️ Because sometimes, all someone needs is the right person beside them saying, “Give it a go - you can do this."

This is Centre Magic. ✨

Fridays are pretty special around here! 💛

🥕 In the kitchen, our weekly Manaaki Crew were busy preparing vegetables and dessert for Sunday’s FREE Community Meal, then they got busy making a delicious lunch to share with the Doggy Dayz team. Homemade sausage rolls, cheesy scones, hot chips and tiramisu what a feast! 😋

💛 Manaaki Crew meets every Friday at 10.30am everyone is welcome! Come along, help prepare food, learn new skills, and enjoy a cuppa and a chat. We love the peeps from CCS Disability Action and our community that join us.

🐶 In the Gilmour Lounge, the wonderful Doggy Dayz team were here for their fortnightly FREE service for seniors and others in our community, clipping, grooming and health-checking more than 12 dogs. 🐕❤️ LEVIN DOGGY DAYZ love you guys and your furry friends! Our Manaaki crew enjoyed the pats and chats.

🧘 In the Hall, Katrina had a class of 15 enjoying her weekly $5 Stretch & Balance session, building strength and balance while taking time to unwind and practise mindfulness.

🧶 And in the Andrew Room, it was time for YARN, our FREE social group held on the second Friday of every month, where people knit, crochet, create and, of course, enjoy plenty of “yarning”! 🧶☕️

This is what we love about our place. ❤️

Every week, we’re seeing more people coming through our doors sometimes just stopping in to meet us, have a chat and see what’s happening.

We love our place and we love sharing it with our community! 💛

During August, 18 people from across our church ministries and community programmes came together to complete a one-day Foundation First Aid course.

The course was adapted to suit the needs of our participants, helping ensure people with different abilities could fully take part, learn practical skills and build confidence in responding when it matters.

💬 “It was really good to have the course adapted so I could take part. I learned things I can use in everyday life, and I feel more confident knowing I can help someone if they need it.”

Having trained volunteers and team members helps us create a safe, welcoming and prepared space for everyone while also providing an opportunity to learn, connect and build confidence together.

A valuable day of learning, inclusion, connection and practical skills that will benefit our whole church and community. 💚

A big thank you to Horowhenua District Council for funding our first aid course.

🌱 WHAT A FIRST CROP SWAP! 🌱

Last Saturday we held our very first Crop Swap and WOW… what a way to get started! 🥕🌿🌻 We have a few photos but got so busy we got less pics to share.

We honestly weren’t expecting such a fantastic turnout, with around 40–50 people coming along to share, swap, chat and connect. We had 7 tables absolutely overflowing with homegrown goodness including:

🥬 Fresh homegrown veggies
🌿 Herbs
🌷 Bulbs & flowers
🥚 Eggs
🍯 Honey
🍰 Homemade cakes
📚 Gardening magazines
🌱 Growing mediums
…and SO much more!

There were so many swaps, shares, conversations and gardening tips happening that we simply couldn’t keep count! 😍

A HUGE thank you to our wonderful volunteer coordinators for getting Crop Swap Horowhenua off the ground, and to everyone who brought something along, made a swap, shared their knowledge, lent a hand or simply came along to see what it was all about. 💚 A thank you to Crop Swap Aotearoa, Sustainable Taranaki and Horowhenua Mana Kai Network for your advice

We were completely blown away by the response. You exceeded our expectations and have given us massive confidence that Crop Swap Horowhenua is going to become a regular part of many people’s monthly calendars! 🌱📅

And remember you don’t need to have a huge garden or loads of produce to get involved. Crop Swap is about sharing what you have, learning from others, reducing waste, growing your own and building connections.... even offering to help at events or spreading the word
