Age Concern Horowhenua Age Concern Horowhenua is the charity in our neighbourhood supporting older people! Our Vision:
Older people live a valued life in an inclusive society.

He pāpori e whai whakaarohia ana, e whakanuitia ana, e tautokona ana, e whai mana anahoki te hunga kaumātua. Our Mission:
Age Concern promotes wellbeing, rights, respect and dignity for older people. He mahi mō ngā tika me te oranga o te hunga kaumātua. Everything we do at Age Concern Horowhenua is to support our older community to live a great later life, to make the choices that best suit them and to have access to the services and help they need. We stand up for the rights of older people and against ageism and discrimination. Some of our services include:
• Elder Abuse and Neglect Prevention and Response Service!
• Advocacy for the rights of older people!
• Social Connections to combat loneliness and isolation in our community!
• Health promotion activities to promote nutrition, exercise & overall wellbeing!

✨ Introducing… WORD OF THE WEEK! ✨
We’re starting something new at Age Concern Horowhenua — and we’d love you to join in.
Each week we’ll share an interesting, unusual, forgotten or just plain fabulous word. Some you may know, some you definitely won’t… and occasionally we might discover there’s actually a word for something we’ve been doing all our lives! 😄
First up is MONDEGREEN. 🎶
Ever confidently sung the wrong words to a song for YEARS, only to discover that wasn’t the lyric at all?
Apparently, there’s a word for that!
Mine is Barry Manilow’s Copacabana. For years, instead of “At the Copa, Copacabana…”, I’ve happily sung “Akapolka Cabocabana…” 😂
So now it’s your turn.
