Kia ora e te iwi

Kua tō te rā o te rangatira, a Whatarangi Winiata, nāna i ārahi ngā iwi o te kōtahitanga o Te Āti Awa, o Ngāti Raukawa, o Ngāti Toa Rangatira.

He nui tōna koha ki te ao Māori, ā, e mau tonu ana ngā hua o āna mahi i Whakatupuranga Rua Mano me tōna Wānanga o Raukawa, ā, i kitea anō tōna mana whakahaere i roto i Te Pāti Māori me Ngāi Māori.

Nō reira, ahakoa ngā āhuatanga o ngā take ā-iwi, ka tū kotahi tonu tātou hei Māori. Ko te Kaupapa o tēnei wā he taumaha tēnei mate nui e tau nei ki runga i Ngātokowaru Marae, ka huri atu mātou o Muaūpoko me te ngākau whakaiti.

We will meet Saturday 6th June at Kohuturoa marae 8am sharp as Muaūpoko to proceed on to Ngatokowaru marae and pay our respects to matua Whatarangi Winiata and his whānau of Te Ngare o Huia.

Pōwhiri 9am sharp, dress prepared for the weather conditions and please follow Māori wardens directions.

Kia Ora Whānau,

The Breast Screen Aotearoa mobile screening unit is currently in Taitoko, making it easier for local wāhine to access free breast screening services.

Free breast screening is available for eligible wāhine aged 45–69.

This short video takes you inside the mobile unit and explains what happens during a screening appointment — from preparation through to the mammogram itself.

If you've ever wondered what to expect, this is a great place to start. Taking time for regular breast screening can help with early detection and provide peace of mind.

📞 Call 0800 270 200 to find out more or to book an appointment.

Please share this post with the wāhine in your whānau who may be eligible. A simple kōrero could encourage someone to take an important step for their hauora.

💗 Kākahuria te māwhero – Pink Shirt Day 💗

"Kāti te whakawetiweti"

A little late to the post, today we proudly stood together in support of Pink Shirt Day a kaupapa that reminds us all of the importance of kindness, manaakitanga, inclusion and standing against bullying in all its forms.

We believe everyone deserves to feel safe, valued, heard and respected. Whether in our workplaces, schools, homes or hāpori, that words and actions matter.

He iti te kupu, he nui te aroha.
Small words can carry great kindness.

Today we wore pink to tautoko:
✨ kindness is strength
✨ diversity is celebrated
✨ people uplift one another
✨ and bullying has no place in our whānau, hapori or mahi spaces.

Me aroha tātou ki a tātou anō.

Kia tūpato e te whānau

Weather is a bit unpredictable at the moment, take care out there.

Check in on your whānau, drive safe, and make sure you’ve got what you need at home.

Kia haumaru tātou katoa.

Here’s the latest:

In addition to the Heavy Rain Watch for Horowhenua, there’s also a Heavy Rain Warning for the Tararua Range, where a decent amount of rain is set to fall. That means we could see rivers and streams rising quickly, surface flooding, and the odd slip.

Because of that, we’ve closed Kimberley Reserve as a precaution, those river levels can change fast, and we’d rather be safe than sorry.

We know it can feel like a bit much, and we really appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding while we keep sharing updates and making these calls.
