This weeks upcoming games ⏰

It’s the trophy finals for the Women’s combined competition this Friday. Once again it’s Geraldine and Pleasant Point in what promises to be another thrilling chapter in one of the competition’s great rivalries. These two teams are very well know to each other and whenever they meet you can guarantee a hard-fought contest that goes right down to the final whistle. There’s never much between them and this final is shaping up to be no different. Clear your Friday night schedule because Pleasant Point Domain will be the place to be! 🫡

While there’s no teenage or senior games at home this week watch this space as our juniors will have a couple of games for you to pop down to. ❤️🖤

RESPECT THE WHISTLE ⚠️
Without match officials, there is no game.

At Geraldine Rugby Club we are proud to promote a positive rugby environment across all grades of our game from our youngest JAB grades through to Senior grades.

This is a reminder to all players, coaches, managers, parents, supporters and spectators that referees and assistant referees (ARs) deserve our respect at all times.

Rugby is a passionate (occasionally emotional) sport and we all love supporting our teams. However abuse, criticism or questioning of match officials from the sideline is not acceptable. Referees and ARs are doing their best to ensure games are played safely and fairly, and they deserve our support and respect. At the end of the day, it’s just a game.

Across our junior grades many of our referees are senior players who volunteer their time on Saturday mornings to ensure our children can play rugby. These volunteers are often not formally trained referees but they step up because they care about our club, our community and our young players. They do their best and for that they deserve our appreciation.

No matter the grade our expectations remain the same:
✔ Respect all match officials
✔ Support players positively
✔ Encourage good sportsmanship
✔ Be a positive role model for our young people
✔ Help create an environment where everyone can enjoy rugby

Let’s make our sidelines a place where players, coaches, officials and supporters feel valued and respected. It’s simple; respect the referee, respect the ars and respect the game. The last thing we want is to be asking any of our sidelines to leave the game.

A huge thank you to our referees and ARs who volunteer their time and knowledge each week.

Last night we celebrated one of our younger wāhine from our womens team reaching the 25 games club. ⭐️ Georgina Hurley was presented her 25th game badge by her dad Jason. Georgina now joins both her sisters who have previously celebrated this milestone. Congratulations Georgie on reaching this achievement. As a club we recognise what you bring to the game and see the commitment and pride you have for the women and younger females of Geraldine RC. 🙏🏻
