We aim to provide the ultimate outdoor experience: having fun and adventure while broadening your appreciation of the beautiful, unique New Zealand environment.

What a cool spot for a Raft Trip! This Crew did 2 days on the Grade 2 section learning to guide before heading off on their overnight expedition further up valley. A Massive Thank You to the Rangitata Diversion Race Management Ltd for supporting this programme!!!

Once again, Peel Forest Outdoor Centre has been the recipient of a generous donation from our Geraldine based community. Amazing, and thank you. Every dollar helps us delivering an incredible experience for a youth or child who may not have had the opportunity otherwise. If the urge takes you to support a child for camp, reach out to [email protected] and we'll help you sponsor one child for one camp.

What do you do when you were meant to be going mountaineering but the mountain closed due to wind and you really wanted to go? Well, Mountainview Yr13s got creative and went mountaineering in the park anyway! With a bit of creativity from your instructors and teachers, it is amazing what you can do in your local playground.

However, we did NOT do self-arresting on the slides, much to the disappointment of the locals who were enjoying watching our adventures

Shout out to Timaru Boys Yr13 Outdoor Ed class for cutting next season's firewood for the cabins!!! Even with the pouring rain and mud, they still managed to fill up the woodshed in pretty good time. Nice Job Team!!!

Guess what??? We have a Bronze and Silver Duke of Ed coming up this School Holidays, starting on the 5th of October.

Here is some feedback we got from the last DoE crew we had:

"I did well. Really proud of myself for climbing Little Mt Peel"

"I really loved eating Supple Jack and 'strawberry leaves' (Horopito), which was spicy. I also loved taking pictures and view from top. I also loved walking with Beth (the instructor) & my friend, O."

"Highlight — climbing Little Mt Peel."

"I feel more confident looking after myself in the bush, camping, cooking, and navigating."

"Our instructors was very supportive. Beth was so sweet and Mav was funny. Mav has to work on improving his Dad jokes :)"

"One thing I loved is I got to drink water from a river, it was so refreshing, and when we make it to the camping spot I was so happy because I thought I could not make it."

Woohoo!!! What an evening last night was at the NZ Mountain Film Festival!

Massive thank you to everyone who came out to support the Peel Forest Outdoors Centre and team, as well as all the donations that people gifted.

It was an awesome evening getting to catch up with people, meet new people, and enjoy being inspired by some very inspirational stories and Kiwis all around the world.

Shout out to the lovely Ruth, one of our incredible office ladies, who brought this event to life and who poured so much passion and drive into it, from the admin behind the scene to promoting, advertising, and making sure everything ran smoothly on the night. You did an awesome job!

And, of course, shout out to Isaac at the Geraldine Cinema for the venue, hosting and supporting the team. Your knowledge, know-how and availability made the event cruisy.

THIS SUNDAY - The Peel Forest Outdoor Centre's Annual New Zealand Mountain Film Festival fundraiser. We are screening the Pure NZ Programme - showcasing 6 epic short films. The adventures all come to life on the big screen with the big sound at Geraldine Cinema.
It will be a great programme and we'd love your support. See captions with the photo's below for details of each film. Door sales are $30 or book online for youth tickets at $12 and adult tickets starting from $25 (option to pay more if you are willing and able).
