Kaitangata is having a big month with three grants from the Trust’s September round landing in the town. Kaitangata Volunteer Fire Brigade are restoring vintage engines with a new shed to keep them housed, Kaitangata Primary School is renewing their kapa haka uniforms, and Kaitangata Black Gold BMX are chasing a national qualifying meet.

Across the region, 34 groups shared $748,824, with other projects including willow control at the Kurow Wetland and native plant revegetation on the Otago Peninsula with Save The Otago Peninsula - STOP- Inc Soc.

We're delighted to welcome two new Trustees to the Otago Community Trust Board! 🎉

Mary Jane Kivalu (Ōtepoti) and Phill Hunt (Wānaka) officially took up their roles on 1 September, bringing the Board to its full capacity of 12.

Mary Jane brings a career spanning business, education, community development and research, alongside voluntary leadership in youth development, sport and Pasifika community work. Phill brings thirty years of farming and a long record of governance across Otago's rural communities, and currently chairs the Otago Rural Support Trust.

"Mary Jane and Phill each bring depth of experience and a genuine commitment to the people of Otago," says OCT Chair Stacey Honeywill.
