Otago Community Trust Each year the Trust funds community groups throughout Otago from the reinvestment of proceeds from the sale of Trust Bank New Zealand shares in the mid-1990s.

Otago Community Trust is a community-owned charitable trust that provides grants to not-for-profit community groups and projects that empower communities to realise their potential and goals. Through our grants, we endeavour to make Otago communities vibrant and resilient and protective of people, heritage and environment. Otago Community Trust is pleased to announce the appointment of Stacey Honeywill (Kāi Tahu) as Chair and Rebecca Williams as Deputy Chair of its Board of Trustees. The Trust acknowledges with gratitude the outstanding leadership of previous Chair Andy Kilsby and Deputy Chair Barb Long, whose dedication has significantly shaped the organisation.

Stacey Honeywill brings a wealth of executive leadership and governance experience to the role of Chair and Rebecca Williams brings more than 20 years of experience across local government and education sectors.

📣 If you're in and around Alexandra, you are invited to join huddl for a Fundraising & AI Workshop with Guest Speaker Lani Evans co-founder and CEO of Fundsorter!

This workshop will explore how AI is changing the fundraising landscape and how organisations can use it in practical ways to boost their fundraising. They’ll also spend time demystifying AI, discussing the ethical challenges it raises, and sharing frameworks for good governance so charities, for-purpose organisations and community groups can approach AI with confidence.

This workshop is ideal for staff, volunteers and board and committee members - all welcome.

Otago Community Trust has approved $1,338,085 across 37 grants in our April funding round.

This round supports an amazing range of kaupapa — from restoring the historic Lawrence Chinese Camp, to live music opportunities for young musicians including Smokefreerockquest and Smokefree Tangata Beats, events and programmes for Samoan, Pakistani and Tamil communities, and essential social services for people across Otago.
