A lot happens behind the scenes before someone walks into an interview feeling prepared.

- Sorting clothing donations.
- Steaming outfits.
- Organising sizes.
- Creating welcoming spaces.
- Having conversations that help people feel at ease.

Every detail matters.

Success Suits You is powered by volunteers, community support and people who genuinely want to help others take that next step towards employment.

Thank you to everyone who contributes in ways both big and small 💚

Sometimes confidence starts with something as simple as feeling comfortable in what you’re wearing.

Job interviews can feel overwhelming, especially when confidence has taken a hit.

We often hear from clients that having an outfit they feel good in helps them walk into interviews feeling more prepared and more like themselves.

It’s not just about clothing. It’s about confidence, dignity and support during an important moment.

We always appreciate the support of community organisations that help make a real difference for local jobseekers.

Earlier this month, Success Suits You's Deb Sutton was invited to attend a meeting of the Zonta Metropolitan Club of Dunedin to share more about the dressing and job search support services SSY provides across the community. During the visit, Rachel, Jane and fellow members presented donations of quality work-related clothing to help support local jobseekers.

Zonta is an international organisation focused on empowering women and girls through advocacy, education, leadership, and community initiatives. Their work includes raising awareness around gender-based violence, supporting respect for women and girls, and providing opportunities through programmes and scholarships.

We are incredibly grateful for the ongoing support from community organisations like Zonta that help make a real difference for people preparing for employment opportunities.

If you are interested in learning more about Zonta or becoming a member, we encourage you to connect with the Zonta Metropolitan Club of Dunedin through their website.

Thank you again for your generosity and support 💜

There’s something powerful about walking into an interview feeling confident in yourself.

Recently, SSY supported Casey with an interview outfit ahead of an important job opportunity, alongside support from her Workbridge mentor. After the interview, her mentor shared this update with us:

“The manager actually commented on her outfit and said they really liked it.”

Casey has now been invited to a second interview with the regional manager and everything is looking really positive.

Most importantly, Casey said she felt confident walking into the interview and wanted to pass on her huge thanks for the support.

These are the moments that remind us why community support matters. Sometimes confidence starts with simply feeling comfortable, prepared and seen.

Thank you to everyone who continues to support Success Suits You and the work we do in our community 💜

Thank you to MSD’s Regional Commissioner, Steph Voight, for taking the time to visit the SSY boutique ahead of our Clutha MTFJ dressing session.

“An amazing community-led charity that provides jobseekers a free interview outfit and a few job search tips along the way.”

It’s a great reminder of the difference practical support can make.

Last week, Deb and Vicki had the pleasure of supporting 10 rangatahi as part of the Clutha Mayors Taskforce for Jobs community employment programme.

Together, they helped each young person find clothing that not only looked great, but felt right for stepping into new opportunities.

A big thank you to Jobbortunities (Eden and Ollie) for organising the day, and to WellSouth (Georgia) and Ministry of Social Development (Heidi) for their support on the day.

It’s always special to see what can happen when organisations come together to back young people into their next step.

If you’re job searching right now, this time of year can feel a bit uncertain.

Things can slow down. Responses take longer. It’s easy to wonder if anything is happening at all.

But behind the scenes, it often is.

Keep going. Keep showing up. The right opportunity doesn’t always arrive on a clear timeline.

And when it does, feeling prepared and confident can make all the difference.

Sometimes one person’s clear-out can make a real difference.

Shirley recently got in touch after feeling stuck with her wardrobe — full of workwear she knew she’d never wear again.

So she decided to clear it out and donate those pieces to Success Suits You.

It’s a simple act, but one that helps support others as they prepare for interviews and new opportunities.

Thank you, Shirley — we really appreciate your support 💛
