100+ People Who Care Dunedin

100+ People Who Care Dunedin 100+ People Who Care | Dunedin is an open invite charity crowdfunding initiative It’s Fast, Easy & Impactful! Imagine the impact with 100 members!

Here’s how it works...

Members commit to attending four one-hour meetings per year and to donate $100 at each meeting, totalling $400 per year. Meetings will generally be held February, May, August, and November. Three charities share for five minutes each on their work in the local community. There is a brief question and answer time for each charity. Once the three charities have spoken all mee

ting attendees vote on which charity should receive the money, and the charity with the most votes wins! To set up the next meeting attendees who have signed a commitment form are given an opportunity to nominate local charities. Once nominations have been made three names are pulled out of the hat. The nominating member or a charity representative organised by the nominating member will speak at the next meeting. Note: Nominated charities must be registered on the New Zealand Charities Register and all money raised must stay within Dunedin. A lot is raised when we all come together with a little, and it’s all done in four one-hour meetings! Talk about effective and making a difference in our local community! Together, we've raised $6,500 for The Playhouse Theatre 🎭💙

The Playhouse Theatre is raising over $5 million to restore and refurbish its historic 1876 theatre building, ensuring it remains a warm, safe, accessible, and welcoming space for future generations.

In 2025, the Dunedin City Council pledged to contribute $3.35 million towards the project, provided the remaining funds were raised through community support.

Best known for its much-loved Children's Theatre productions, The Playhouse hopes to continue creating magical theatre experiences for Dunedin families for many years to come. Every donation helps keep this treasured community theatre alive.

We love seeing the impact of community giving. It really is as simple as one hour and $100 each, combining to make a real difference.

It was also encouraging to see additional support for our runner-up charities, with donations of $200 to Age Concern Otago and $200 to SuperGrans Dunedin.

Even better, one of our members arranged for the lighting throughout SuperGrans' premises to be replaced (labour and costs completely free of charge). It's a great example of what this group is all about, not just financial support, but people using their skills, resources, and networks to make a practical difference in our community.

Thank you to everyone who continues to be part of this community. Quarter after quarter, we're reminded of what can be achieved when local people come together to support local causes.

If you'd like to learn more about who we are and how you can be involved, we'd love to hear from you. Send us a message or contact Nick Berryman on 027 841 2832 or [email protected]

What a meaningful evening tonight 💙✨

Tonight, our members voted to support A Star Is Born, an organisation doing deeply compassionate work in our community.

"A Star Is Born will use the funds received to continue to support bereaved families in the community by providing tangible memorabilia including photos, castings and jewellery and offer extended support to their volunteers. We are truly grateful"

Expected donation $5,500 - $6,000 🥰

The donations are in! 🎉 A massive congratulations to everyone involved in raising $5,800 for TJ's Way Trust!

Your generosity will go to payment of fees for 6 to 8 new children for the TJ'S Way Trust for 2026. The children selected come from families who are unable to cover the cost of extra curricular activities, and will give each child selected the opportunity to attend an extra curricular activity of their choice 🤝🌟👧🧒

With our new donation structure now in place, an additional $200 has also been donated to Mirror Services and Kiwi Harvest.

Learn more about the TJ's Way Trust and their work: https://www.tjswaytrust.co.nz/

Do you have $100 to donate, and 1 hour spare? We’d love for you to be a part of local generosity in action at our next meeting Wednesday 18th February 2026, 7 – 8pm! DM us or contact Nick Berryman on 027 841 2832 or [email protected] for more information 🙌🏻

What an incredible evening! 💙✨
At our latest 100+ People Who Care | Dunedin gathering, our community came together once again to create meaningful change, this time supporting TJ’s Way Trust, with a pledged donation of approximately $5,500–$6,000.

Thanks to your generosity, our donation will fully cover fees for 6–8 children in 2026, giving them the opportunity to take part in an extracurricular activity they otherwise wouldn’t be able to access. These are kids from families who simply can’t afford those costs, and because of you, they’ll get to choose something that inspires them, builds confidence, and helps them thrive.

This is the heart of what 100+ is all about: backing the people and organisations who lift up our community’s most vulnerable.

With heartfelt thanks to every member and supporter, you’re changing lives, one meeting at a time.

We're excited to announce the speakers for our next event! 🎙💛

On Wednesday, 19 November, we’ll be joined by three inspiring charities, Kiwi Harvest, Mirror Services, and TJ’s Way Trust, each doing remarkable work in our community.

Our goal is to raise $5,500–$6,000 and deliver one big, immediate gift that will help one of these organisations continue changing lives, and to provide a space for all three charities to raise awareness of their cause and mission in our city.
