⏳ FINAL CALL: Let’s Get Coromandel & Colville Heard!

Time is running out to ensure our part of the peninsula gets the focus it deserves. The Thames-Coromandel District Council Business Sentiment Survey closes this Sunday, 31 May.

TCDC is using this survey to shape future business support, resources, and advocacy across the district - but they can only support what they know about. We need a strong turnout of feedback specifically from Coromandel and Colville so our unique local needs, challenges, and voices aren't overshadowed by the bigger hubs.

🎁 Be In To Win!
Complete the survey before midnight Sunday and you’ll automatically go in the draw to win either:
- A 3-Month Radio Advertising Package – Excellent for getting your business shouted about across the airwaves on Coromandel's CFM.
- A $150 Fuel Voucher – Because we all know how much it takes to navigate those beautiful peninsula roads!

Don’t let our area miss out. Your insights are exactly what TCDC needs to hear to help our northern peninsula businesses thrive.

We know it’s been a relentless season. Between damaged road access cutting off supply chains and the mounting "cost of business" pressures - from rising fuel to insurance - local business owners are being pushed to the limit.

In an exciting offer the CCBA, in partnership with Business Mentors NZ (BMNZ) and the EMA, wants to ensure you don't have to navigate this winter alone.

To help our community get back on its feet, Business Mentors NZ is waiving their $295 + GST registration fee for eligible business owners impacted by recent weather events.

This is your chance to get matched with an experienced professional who can help you steady the ship, manage rising costs, and plan for the future.

How a Mentor Can Help You This Winter:
- Navigating Logistics: If road closures or transport issues are stalling your business, a mentor can help you find workarounds or logistical solutions.
- Managing Financial Pressure: Get a fresh perspective on managing cash flow and rising input costs during these lean winter months.
- 1-on-1 Guidance: Receive dedicated support tailored to your specific journey, no matter what challenges you’re facing.
- Specialised Expertise: With over 1,500+ Mentors, BMNZ has experts in everything from finance and eCommerce to product development and exporting.

If you’ve been affected by the weather, the usual sign-up cost is on the house. Don't wait until the next storm - get the resources and guidance you need today.

APRIL NETWORKING EVENT: Regional Outlook, Local Excellence & Your Ideas

Join us for our April Network Meeting this month is all about connection - connecting you with regional strategy, connecting your business with recognition, and most importantly, connecting your ideas with the people who can help make them happen.

We are excited to welcome Kylie Hawker-Green, the new General Manager for Destination Hauraki Coromandel. With her extensive background leading Business Associations in Hastings and Taupō, Kylie understands exactly what makes a town centre thrive. She’ll be sharing vital insights into how the Peninsula fared over the summer and the work DHC is doing to promote our region to the world and winter ideas.

Following this, Lisa Church (Economic Development Advisor Thames-Coromandel District Council) will lead a presentation on the upcoming Claymark Hauraki-Coromandel Business Awards. This is your chance to get the "inside story" before entries officially open. Lisa will be joined by past winners - including our own CCBA Chair, Jenni Ashman, sharing her experience winning the Service to Business award.

Most importantly, we want to hear from you. As we look toward the rest of the year, we want to tap into the collective brilliance of our local business owners and community. If you have ideas for our area - whether it’s for events, local improvements, or new initiatives - please bring them along! This is an open invitation to share your vision and help shape the future of the Coromandel-Colville ward.

Cash bar will be open.

News just in from NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi - Waikato & Bay of Plenty -

Plan in place to re-open SH25 at Kereta Hill tomorrow afternoon

NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi (NZTA) is working to re-open State Highway 25 (SH25) at Kereta Hill on the Thames Coast Road, by tomorrow afternoon (Friday 17 April).

The Thames Coast Road has been closed since Sunday due to subsidence at Kereta Hill and further movement this week has delayed plans to complete temporary repairs and open a single lane.

An excavation is now needed, with rock and metal laid and compacted, ahead of asphalting for a single lane to open later tomorrow.

“In the meantime the state highway will remain closed until we can make it safe for vehicles. The site needs to settle and allow us to compact a metal base,” says Andy Oakley, NZTA Area Manager for Maintenance and Operations in the Waikato.

“We know this closure is having a real impact on local communities and freight facing a long detour.

“Safety must come first and we’re working as quickly as possible to get SH25 reopened as soon as we can.’’
