The Eritrean Cooks Collective is introducing a delicious Himbasha sandwich, a slightly sweet Eritrean bread pocket stuffed with a Berbere-spiced chicken/ Xebhi Ades (lentil stew).

Starting next month, we are planning some exciting new ventures, with more opportunities to connect with the community over kai. Join us at our first Share Kai and Kลrero at the Art Gallery on the 14th of October and experience the intersection of art, knowledge and food.

We are also launching cooking classes tutored by the Cooks Collective, where you can learn delicious recipes from Nepal, Afghanistan, Palestine, Eritrea and Singapore.

We invite you to join this special evening of art, learning, connection and appreciation of our diversity and our common ground with the Cooks Collective and members of ลŒtautahi Christchurchโ€™s former refugee communities.

Windows on Elsewhere is a beautiful collection of window sketches and refugee texts by internationally acclaimed artist Matteo Pericoli.

Each ticket will include a delicious vegan Afghan meal and dessert prepared by our Cooks Collective, along with free access to the artist presentation and discussion.

The Cooks Collective is preparing a delicious dinner from Nepal and Palestine. Each plate will include rice, Nepali chicken curry (chickpeas for vegans and vegetarians), aloo ko achar (potato pickle) and papadum (lentil crackers).

No matter how many events we host, what matters most are the smiles of our diners and the excitement of those experiencing Share Kai for the first time.

The food was delicious! And the lovely atmosphere friendly people made me wish I lived nearer!
