Manuia le Vaiaso o le Gagana Samoa!
This Samoa Language Week, we celebrate the richness of Gagana Samoa, Samoan culture, and the important role language plays in connecting people, communities, and generations.
This year's theme, “‘E afua mai i mauga tetele manuia o le 'nu'u” – “From the high mountains are the blessings of the village,” reminds us that strong communities are built on strong foundations, shared values, and collective wellbeing.
At ANCAD, we are also grateful for the leadership, wisdom, and service of our Samoan team members and governance leaders. This includes Pacific Capability Lead Clark Tuagalu, who leads culturally grounded capability and mentoring initiatives supporting Pacific organisations and leaders across Auckland; ANCAD Board Member Tuifa'asisina Maria Lafaele QSM, whose extensive leadership across Pacific health, community engagement, and governance continues to strengthen Pacific wellbeing and community aspirations across Aotearoa; and Pacific community leader Pale Sauni, whose decades of work across mental health, social services, education, and Pacific wellbeing have made a lasting contribution to Pacific communities in Aotearoa.
Their work reflects the spirit of this year’s Samoa Language Week theme: Recognising that strong communities are built through leadership, service, connection, and investing in future generations.
