An outstanding weekend at the 2026 North Island Championships.

Over 100 lifters took to the platform, each bringing their own goals, challenges and determination. The effort on display throughout the weekend was a great reminder of what makes our sport so special.

A sincere thank you to all the volunteers, officials, coaches and supporters who gave up their time to make the event happen. These events don’t run themselves, and the quality of our competitions is only possible because of people willing to contribute behind the scenes.

To the POWC team, thank you for continually stepping up whenever needed. Whether it was loading, coaching, or simply doing the jobs that needed doing, your contribution did not go unnoticed.

Our club has never been built around individual success alone. It’s built on people who value character, community and service to others. This weekend was another example of that in action.

Competitions come and go. Culture is built every day.

Proud of what was achieved. Grateful for those who made it possible.

The journey continues.

South Auckland is full of young people with the talent and drive to thrive and succeed, and sports like weightlifting are helping open those doors. 🏋️‍♀️

Weightlifting is the third biggest sport in the Pacific Islands and it’s growing through partnerships with schools like Manurewa High School, creating pathways for young people.

Awesome to meet 19 year old Olivia Selemaia, already ranked 8th in the world in her class, who will represent Aotearoa at the Junior World Championships in May.

Proud to support Simon and NZ Weightlifting because of the opportunities it creates for our young people to shine on the world stage. 🇳🇿
