Just got a new phone, tablet or laptop? Need help setting it up or understanding how to use it? Or is it not working properly and you need a hand to sort it? Digital Seniors have volunteer coaches nearby who can work through it with you, one-on-one at your own pace. Scams are becoming more convincing everyday, but knowing what to look for can help you stay one step ahead. 💙

Join Netsafe this Wednesday for a free Scam Awareness Workshop and learn how to:
• Spot common scams and warning signs
• Protect your personal and financial information
• Know what to do if you or someone you know has been targeted

Digital Seniors is looking for a new weekly volunteer to help teach seniors how to use their digital devices with free one-on-one support at our Devonport Library hub 👉 every Monday, 10am–12pm.

As a Digital Seniors volunteer coach, you’ll support seniors to navigate a range of technologies, including computers, smartphones, and tablets. You don’t need to be an expert or have advanced tech skills — just enough to teach the basics and know how to find helpful information online. The most important part of the role is being able to relate to seniors, show kindness, and explain things clearly and simply.

If this sounds like you and you have two to three hours a week to spare, we’d love to have you join our friendly and supportive team!

This World Senior Citizens Day, we're celebrating the seniors who have shaped our communities, supported future generations, and continue to make a difference. 💙

Thank you to the older adults in our lives whose knowledge, experience, and stories enrich our communities. In a world where answers are just a Google search or AI prompt away, it's easy to forget that for generations, it was our elders we turned to for wisdom: for family recipes passed down through the years, practical skills taught by hand, advice on raising children, and the wisdom to help us make sense of the world around us.

Today is a great reminder to spend time with the seniors you love. Ask them questions about their lives, listen to their stories, and be pleasantly surprised by the knowledge they have to share. 💙

When seniors avoid going online due to fear of being scammed, they miss out on the connection and ease technology can bring. These events and resources are designed to help seniors feel safe online, so we can ensure no one is left behind in this rapidly growing digital world.
