BIG SUSTAINABLE PAREMOREMO UPDATE!
You may recall, from previous posts, that we had a BIG CALL OUT to our community, trying to find a new Charitable Trust team as most of our crew were finishing up, leaving the area, had done their 20- years etc,etc? It was a lovely night, a stocktake on the amazing work going on at Sustainable Pare, over a hot-soup and slideshow, with an excellent turn-out...
With great results!!
After our monthly meeting and trustee handover last night?
WE HAVE A WHOLE NEW TEAM ON (THE) BOARD!
A new Chairman, Secretary, Treasurer, Trustees, Community Bulletin author and Pest Plant division too!
THANK 'YOUSE'!
We sadly farewell long-serving trustee Andy Riley and our most-EXCELLENT secretary Deb Duggan, our awesome Chairman Russell and Martin as our e-news and Pest Free Pare legend!
- Andy has been with us from the very start in 2007! But he'll be keeping an eye on the upkeep of the community defibrillators which he arranged procurement and installation of for our community. THANK YOU FOR EVERYTHING Andy!
- Deb has been a huge part of this group even though she was only joining 'part-time' years ago!
- Russell did a GREAT job as chairman throughout his terms and continues to be involved in the ANZAC service, as a rock-star at the Pare Harvest Festival and Pest Trapping!
- Martin will be staying on as a trustee but is handing the baton over on producing the Community E-News. Thank you for all of your time spent keeping everyone up-to-date Martin! We're glad you are still in the mix too.
- Sarah!! Our Treasurer who has kept us all up-to-date with financial reporting, annual returns and making sure all of our funding went to the right place at the right time. - Thank you. None of us can do the numbers stuff and you fitted this into your very busy schedule. 🙏 You're all a bunch of legends.
Which brings us to a 'last-but-not-least' and VERY BIG THANK YOU to Phee Bee for doing SUCH a great job in the newly formed Community Activator role, the first paid role with Sustainable Paremoremo (10 hours a week, but we know she did more!).
Plus this brand new board would not have happened without Phoebe working within this role over this time, connecting with our wider community and knowing who would want to join up as a result!
Thank you also to the Upper Harbour Local Board for funding this role, enabling all of Phee Bee's community events and on-going connections. This has been absolutely priceless in activating our community after the 'covid-lull' in volunteership! WE ARE BACK!
THE FUTURE - YOU CAN STILL BE A PART OF!
There is always plenty to do, whether you want to help trap pests, annihilate pest-plants, contribute to the Kai Rākau - NZ Food Tree Project on Sanders Reserve, join the Pare Resilience Group or even become our next Community Activator, keeping the community events happening (see previous post for job application info...).
WRAP-UP -
We will introduce you to our new Board and members in the near-future after they settle in.
