As an environmental community group, we sometimes rely on support from our Local Board to fund our environmental initiatives and aid our community resilience into the future.
Please share and take time to read through all of this and then HAVE YOUR SAY! IT'S VERY CRUCIAL that we all do! EVERY BIT OF FEEDBACK COUNTS! 🙏🤞
🌟 Upper Harbour Community — We Need Your Voice! 🌟
The Upper Harbour Local Board is facing an effective budget shortfall of $740,000 this coming year. As part of Auckland Council’s Annual Plan consultation, we’re asking you how we should bridge this gap.
To close it, we may need to reduce services and/or increase some fees. Options being considered include:
🔹 Reduced maintenance
🔹 Reduced grant funding
🔹 Cuts across programmes and projects — including environmental initiatives, events, activations, cycling projects, and wider community outcomes
🔹 Increased fees and charges at Albany Stadium Pool
At the same time, Auckland Council is consulting on a 7.9% rates rise — this is due to the opening of the City Rail Link.
For local boards, funding hasn’t kept up with inflation, and we are effectively bulk funded. That means we must still find $740,000 in savings.
