Torbay Playcentre

Torbay Playcentre The centre is run by the parents and caregivers (that’s you), who receive free training. What we do
We love play. We close our terms during the school holidays.

Torbay Playcentre is a parent and caregiver-run early childhood education service providing an environment for children from 0-6 years to learn through play and for caregivers and their families to have a supportive and local network. Who we are
Torbay Playcentre is a parent and caregiver-run early childhood education service providing an environment for children from 0-6 years to learn through play and for caregivers and their families to have a supportive and local network. What makes us different
Playcentre is different to other Early Childhood Centres or playgroups as parents, caregivers, or grandparents come with their children to enjoy educational, stimulating, and fun sessions. At Playcentre we believe that play is the central activity of children and through play young children are like little scientists, learning about themselves and their world. ✨ Mānawatia a Matariki ✨

Over the weekend, Torbay Playcentre came together to celebrate Matariki with shared kai, a bonfire, music, and a disco under the stars.

It was such a special evening seeing past and present members come together — reconnecting, laughing, dancing, and celebrating as one big Playcentre whānau.

A big thank you to New World Long Bay for kindly donating yummy ice cream, marshmallows, and more for the kids to enjoy. 🌟

🌿 Outdoor Explorer — every Wednesday morning 🌿

Nature play gives tamariki the chance to explore, take safe risks, build confidence, use their imagination and connect with the world around them.

From climbing, digging and balancing to collecting treasures, noticing bugs, feeling the weather and playing alongside friends — outdoor play supports curiosity, creativity, problem-solving and wellbeing.

New families are welcome — email [email protected] to book a visit.
