Ifon-Orolu Spoke at the TownHall Meeting today!

Today, May 7th, 2026, the Project held its Town Hall Meeting at the Carpenters and Bricklayers Hall, Ayetoro, Ifon-Osun.

Community members – young and old, men and women, traditional leaders and union representatives – came together. Not to fight. Not to assign blame. But to talk. To listen. To ask hard questions. And to begin imagining a future where peace is possible.

The conversation was honest. At times, it was heavy. But it was necessary.

Our Youth Ambassadors for Peace from Ifon-Orolu were formally introduced – young men and women who have volunteered to lead peace efforts from within their community. They are not waiting for peace to come. They are building it.

We are grateful to the Ifon-Orolu community for hosting us, and to everyone who showed up; because peace is not built by spectators. It is built by those who are willing to sit together, disagree respectfully, and still choose to stay in the room.

Dialogue is not easy. But it is the only way.

This is the second Town Hall in the series. First was Erin-Osun. Now Ifon-Orolu. Ilobu is coming soon. Each community is speaking. Each has shown courage.

The road ahead is long. But today, in that hall, hope was present.

Yesterday, May 5th, 2026, the Advocacy Team of the Project – an initiative of Future Builders Initiative - FBI and PEACAD Network – paid a courtesy visit to the palace of His Royal Majesty, Oba Ashiru Olaniyan (Olobu of Ilobu), as part of ongoing efforts to foster peace, dialogue, and unity among the three communities of Ilobu, Erin-Osun, and Ifon-Orolu.

The team was warmly received by His Royal Majesty and his esteemed council of chiefs, whose presence underscored the importance of traditional institutions in leading the charge for reconciliation. During the engagement, we discussed the current tensions affecting the land, the urgent need for peaceful coexistence, and the critical role of the palace in championing dialogue over violence.

His Royal Majesty, Oba Ashiru Olaniyan, reaffirmed the commitment of the Ilobu traditional council to peace, justice, and the protection of all residents – regardless of their community of origin. The chiefs also expressed their support for the project and pledged to work with our Youth Ambassadors for Peace to promote harmony at the grassroots level.

We also introduced the Youth Ambassadors for Peace from Ilobu, who will serve as advocates and role models for peace among their peers.

Together, we are building a movement. Peace is not a destination – it is a daily choice. And yesterday, Ilobu chose peace.

The conversation nobody wanted to have. But we had it anyway…

Days ago, we sat down with the Executives of the Ilobu Development Union (Home Branch) . And honestly? It wasn't easy.

We talked about the pain. The losses. The frustration of seeing a land that once united families now divide them. They didn't hold back. Neither did we.

But here's the thing – beneath all the hurt, we found something powerful. A willingness to try again. To talk again. To choose peace even when it's hard.

The meeting ended with handshakes and a shared understanding: Ilobu is ready for peace. Not because the pain is gone – but because the people are tired of the cycle.

This is how healing begins. Not with speeches. But with real conversations between people who dare to hope again.

Thank you, Ilobu Development Union, for opening your doors and your hearts. Let's keep walking this road together.
