Montage Africa Group Awarded Gold Prospecting License in Liberia
The Government of Liberia has officially granted Montage Africa Group a Gold Prospecting License, marking a major step forward for the company's mineral exploration strategy in West Africa.
The license, awarded by the Ministry of Mines and Energy, gives Montage Africa Group the legal authority to conduct exploration activities within a designated area believed to hold significant gold mineralization potential. This development underscores Liberia's continued commitment to attracting credible investors and advancing its mineral sector in line with sustainable development practices.
Strategic Expansion in West Africa
Montage Africa Group, a diversified African investment and development company, views the license as a strategic milestone in its growing portfolio of mining and natural resource assets across the continent.
> "We are honored to receive this prospecting license and express our full commitment to responsible and transparent exploration in Liberia," said Mr Ogochukwu Ezeaku, Chairman of Montage Africa Group . "This opportunity aligns with our vision to unlock value from Africa’s mineral wealth while ensuring community inclusion, environmental stewardship, and national benefit."
The prospecting license covers a promising geological corridor known for its greenstone belt formations, which are historically associated with gold occurrences in the West African region. Initial geological mapping, sampling, and remote sensing studies will commence in the coming weeks, followed by trenching and possible exploratory drilling.
Boost for Liberia’s Mining Sector
Liberia, rich in untapped mineral resources, continues to position itself as an emerging destination for mining investments. With recent reforms in transparency, environmental oversight, and licensing procedures, the government has been actively promoting partnerships with reputable firms to accelerate exploration and responsible resource development.
Commitment to Responsible Exploration
Montage Africa Group has pledged to adhere to all regulatory and environmental requirements set by the Liberian government and international best practices. The company has already initiated community engagement sessions to build trust and promote inclusive participation from stakeholders in the licensed area.
If initial exploration results prove promising, the company may seek to upgrade the license to an exploration or mining license, subject to further government review and environmental impact assessments.
